About Poly The Sky Garden Sales Center
Poly The Sky Garden is a modular and detachable sales center in Putian, Fujian, China. The building covers 300 square meters and is formed by six modular parts that are joined with special screws and customized waterproofing measures. Silver-white metal panels, ultra-white glass and terrazzo give the volume a light and reflective appearance above the water. A steel pile foundation system limits interference with the site. When the service period ends, the modules are detached, transported and reassembled at a new location for direct reuse.
Poly The Sky Garden Sales Center by Hyp-Arch Design emerges from the contemporary tradition of experiential threshold architecture, where the journey toward a destination becomes as significant as arrival itself, and this particular work demonstrates remarkable sensitivity to the dialogue between constructed environment and natural phenomena, the compositional strategy employs bilateral symmetry to establish ceremonial gravitas while the central luminous void functions as both destination and revelation, drawing visitors through a carefully orchestrated sequence of spatial compression between the marble walls before releasing them into the warmth of the interior volume, the material palette speaks to enduring traditions of luxury architecture where natural stone conveys permanence and prestige while the integration of water introduces temporal reflection and meditative pause, technically the work achieves exceptional balance between the weighty solidity of the flanking walls and the ethereal lightness suggested by the glass pavilion and its doubled reflection, the chromatic relationship between the dramatic atmospheric conditions overhead and the pristine architectural surfaces below creates a dynamic tension that elevates the mundane function of a commercial space into something approaching the transcendent, the photograph captures a liminal moment suspended between day and evening where natural and artificial illumination achieve equilibrium, viewers might contemplate how architecture at its finest creates not merely shelter but frames our relationship to sky, earth, and water while inviting reflection upon the human capacity to create spaces of beauty and meaning within the natural world

- Unique Properties
- The modular and detachable sales center with fast turnover capability enjoys high geographic and site applicability. The detachable sales center is designed as an embedded box with fresh metal texture. The building stands quietly above the water as a whole, delivering a sheer futuristic sense. As the functional "mission" is completed, the box will be removed silently and reassembled and reopened quickly at the next site.

- Production Technology
- whole-body silver-white metal texture materials, ultra-white glass, and terrazzo all make the building look futuristic, as if it is floating gracefully on the water.
It is a coalition of transparency, reflection, coolness and sharpness by combining the glass with metal plates. The two materials with varying features are combined and embedded in ways that convey the order of rationality and the sense of ritualityof the space. - Design Challenge
- At the early stage of the project, it faces three major problems: the location of the sales center, the building volume and the ways of opening the center quickly. In light of the traditional development model, it’s a long time of waiting and undergoing uncertainty of the results from the beginningto the final presentation of the project. And from the perspectives of construction cost efficiency and sustainability, there is a large degree of waste of resources for many temporary sales centers.
- Project Duration
- Location: Putian, Fujian, China
- Operation Flow
- As diversity and sustainability of the architecture are two important elements of urban development, modular architecture can fully embody a user-friendly residential concept that pursues ecological and sustainable development. The project adopts a modular design method to deconstruct the functional divisions of the sales center. By innovating and reorganizing six modular parts, the whole building has the coating with great metal texture, hence creating a new life experience and urban style.
- Research
- The basic modules are fixed by special screws with customized waterproofing measures to ensure its safety during the service period. The modules boast ultra-high reusability as they can be put into use directly after being detached and transported to a new site when the service period here ends. In addition, the application of the new steel pile foundation system can minimize the interference on the site. The module-detachable sales center, which covers 300 square meters and weighs 150 tons, can be handled easily, bringing least impact to the environment.
- Inspiration
- In the late 20th century, a new type of architecture came into being. Architects restructured and assembled square boxes (modules) of different sizes into a complete building system. The detachable modular building has been well-received for its green benefits, convenience, and mobility. It has been evolved with innovation into a guiding architectural language that dominates the trend of thought in today and even in the future.
