About Bay Arce Restaurant

Bay Arce is a seafood restaurant located in the cruise terminal building at Kanazawa Port. The dining area faces the sea through a full glass wall, and the view is revealed gradually as visitors move in from the entrance. The seating volume forms a large rounded shape that recalls a ship, built from fine pieces of Noto Hiba wood from Ishikawa Prefecture. A stepped floor allows the sea to be seen from every seat, and a gentle slope gives access to wheelchair users. The wooden ceiling is bent by hand into a wave form and is lit at night.

Unique Properties
The structure of the audience seats cannot be seen from the entrance, and when you enter the store, you can gradually see the audience seats and the sea.
This is similar to the gradual increase in expectations.
The entire audience seats have a large rounded shape and look like a large ship.
If you look closely, the fine wood expresses the craftsmanship of the combination of natural wood colors. In addition, the wooden panel that represents the waves is beautifully lit up on the ceiling.

Production Technology
The wood called Noto Hiba from Ishikawa Prefecture uses materials with excellent characteristics such as deodorant and insect repellent as the foundation.
In addition, the wave shape of the ceiling, which is the image of the waves of the sea, is also made of wood by a very delicate technique.
The whole waist is also beautiful with a combination of fine wooden chips
It creates a rounded shape and looks like a ship.
Design Challenge
Metals such as steel bend easily to express the waves on the ceiling, but because the load on the ceiling is too high and I wanted to use wood, I draw a wavy drawing for each sheet and bend with wood. In Earl
I configured it. It is fixed to the ceiling with a fine pin.
Project Duration
The project started in February 2019 in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
It opened in April 2020.
Research
What kind of space composition is comfortable for me? Also, the cozy space will succeed as a commercial space. I always think about that and work.
For this Bay arce, you can enjoy a fresh seafood meal in a space overlooking the sea, so that you can respond to various occasions such as friends, family, lovers, anniversaries and weddings.
