About Symphony Of Janan Expressive Illustration
Through analyzing the design, it is apparent to notice the designer’s focus on the essential attributes of both the horse and the seahorse, giving the design the strength and gracefulness that they represent. In the classical Arabic language Janan signifies the deepest chamber of the heart, where the purest form of emotion is expressed. With the designer’s geometric shapes and symbols connected, the design conveys flow and portrays depth. He included the heart in the character and the key, creating a bond and unity between them.

- Fictional design combines two characters, each with special attributes.
Strength of a horse, and delicacy and tenderness of a seahorse.
Linked by ornamented heart that holds a key lock.
The key evolves from a heart shape in its core that holds it and creates a fundamental connection with the character.
The designer used a variety of geometric shapes across the design to give a sense of flow and movement in order to connect with the character and reflect upon its expressions. - Dimensions & Packaging

- The initial sketch was done free hand aimed to create a homogenous flow of all the thoughts gathered pertaining the subject of my piece.
Revisiting the visual concept was essential in order to create a high degree of consistency to establishing perfection within every corner of the drawing, considering the density of Janan’s structure.
I have also adopted traditional methods of depicting shapes and carefully applied it within the relevant scope of my drawing.
Following the sketch development stage, came the digital aspects of applying the technical skills utilized through illustrator and Photoshop. - Design Challenge
- The characters varied greatly in their physical form, and finding a way to merge them
into one without compromising their significant attributes was a challenge.
Another minor obstacle was adding the components that support and complement the design in a compatible and consistent way while making sure they anchored the message and purpose of the design. - Project Duration
- The project started in Feb 2017 and finished in Sep 2020 in Dubai
- Operation Flow
- This design could be a standalone printed as an artwork, Or it could be transformed into a 3d form and used as a still or animated character.
It can be physically sculptured and used as an art-decor element using metallic materials, hand made or factory production.
The objects are very flexible to use, it's been created using adobe illustrator and Photoshop, and can be operated in many ways. - Research
- I went through multiple methods for my research, such as art books, internet, documentaries, and searching deeply within the Ethology of animals and their behaviors.
I got valuable support from people that shared the love of animals.
I also had enough information in my arsenal to dive deep into developing the idea in an original style. - Inspiration
- Inspired mostly by the characteristics of the seahorse, a little creature living in the vast harsh ocean.
A delicate creature yet showing a powerful sense of love through an unbreakable bond with its eternal dance partner.
I had the urge to mix this with the untamed nature of a wild horse waiting for its companion.
The research varied between finding the characters with the desired emotions and the right elements to bond with the characters and develop the purpose behind the design.

Each heart has its own key, only those who truly love can find it.
It is a relationship based on honesty and sacrifice.
Based on this fact, i created this character that represents a woman’s tenderness, femininity and strong personality,
who does not accept to open her heart except to the one who deserve it.
Thats why she made a special key and hid it in the deepest point of the sea,
then surrounded it with difficult tests that only an honest person could pass.

My main focus was to highlight the pure love relationship between two,
and how simple it seems to others, yet it contains a huge amount of details in its essence that defined all its paths and results.

I have two ideas, one is to engrave it on an ornate wooden and metal box, Its elements are interspersed with glass pieces
in special colors that reflect its fine details, and containing a real lock and key, to put the most valuable possessions in it.

and to include the same design elements in every window and wall.

Almost 4 months, from sketching to research to illustration to the final look.
No it wasn't commissioned, This is one of my own pieces of arts, one of many designs i did,
that add more mastery to me day after day, and a design that proves my abilities.

It is not produced for any company yet, but i started my research to produce it as a personal effort.
And i am willing to sell it if i get an interested buyer.

Self challenge, And i always wanted to discover my abilities , and to sail in the ocean of art in all its directions.

I resorted to many designs, drawings and pictures during the search process,
and many designs of mysterious characters done by several artists, in order to help myself
in forming the idea and make it appear more beautiful and distinctive in its final appearance.

Everyone who cares about details and prestige illustrations, and mysterious geometric art.
Its unique shape and style, and the diverse combinations of symbols and techniques used to distinguish it.
I've often avoided the use of symmetrical geometry in this character, in order to give each shape its own personality, not to mention the emphasis on how they relate to each other in meaning.
And as always, I couldn't leave it without designing a unique calligraphic logo, to give the design its own identity.

The name is taken from the word Janan in the Arabic language, and it indicates the deepest point in the heart,
where the secrets and sincere feelings that reflect the personality.
And when that heart opens to those who deserve it,
everything in it comes out like a symphony that plays all the melodies of love.

It is the heart, and how it is based as a balance axis for the personality and its elements around it,

No I did not collaborate with anyone to design this piece, it was a personal challenge.
But i got lots of valuable advises from my friends.

I received an email from the A’Design Award that they would like me to submit for the second time.
It was a wonderful moment indeed, and here I am filled with joy again and proud as a winner.

This work improve my ability to work with the consistency and detail of elements,
even amongst different objects and shapes, and I was able to discover a lot about how to express it in an effective way.
