About Cups Kamakura Cafe and Hotel
Cups Kamakura is an interior design for a cafe restaurant that also serves as a hotel. The building faces the ocean in Kamakura, Japan, and the design takes its inspiration from images of water. Graphics based on water were created and applied to the cafe and hotel spaces through careful work on color balance, sunlight reflection and material selection. The building is more than 50 years old, so the ceiling panels were removed to reveal the original wooden structure. The wood was finished with clear glossy lacquer and new steel supports were added.
