About Fontana Haus Residential House
Fontana Haus is a residential interior design for the ground floor common area of a home in Kuala Lumpur. The space combines a tall void and a lower dining ceiling, so the ceiling height is used as the main feature to unify the area. A curved television console is formed from custom gypsum board, installed by hand and plastered to merge with the wall. Walls and plywood shelves are finished with a skim coat and a clear oil coat. A suspended lamp recalls the flow of a fountain toward the curved console. Orange cabinets add contrast to the plain surfaces.

- Unique Properties
- Less is more” has always been our design mantra. It makes no difference in this case. Troubled by the co-existence of an extremely high and low ceiling under the same space, the goal is to unify the area by utilising the ceiling-height dimension as the focal point. Besides, the wall protrusion is built seamlessly by a gypsum board for the dimensional impression. Finally, a splash of vivid colour is added to amplify the enormous bare wall and make it a key feature.

In addition, the dripping of cantilever hanging on peddle proportionate the dimension of the space. The pop of orange colour in the cabinet create an element of surprise or contrast between the plain.

The main feature of the design research is to utilise the existing building structure to create a distortion of dimensional impression on the wall with minimalist approach.
