About Shopare Residential

This minimalist architecture concept design, inspired by the bat (Shopare means bat in Gilan local language), offers a beautifully durable exterior of metal materials. Set on a hillside, it features a sleek long box shape that maximizes views and a central glass slice for unobstructed connection between indoors and outdoors. The unique parking under a bridge provides extra space, while natural materials like wood and stone create a warm, elegant atmosphere inside.

Within the trajectory of twenty-first-century residential architecture, Yaser and Yasin Rashid Shomali's Shopare Residential emerges as a compelling investigation into the expressive potential of angular geometry and tectonic boldness. The design demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of how massive built volumes can achieve visual lightness through strategic cantilever and careful material articulation. The architects appear to engage with deconstructivist principles while maintaining a refined material sensibility, selecting zinc cladding applied in diagonal patterns that simultaneously unify the disparate angular forms and generate kinetic visual energy across their surfaces. The warm wood trim elements function as precise linear accents, their honey tones offering measured contrast against the predominant cool grays while suggesting human warmth within the otherwise monumental composition. The substantial glazed opening positioned at the convergence of the two primary volumes serves multiple functions: it introduces natural light deep into the interior, frames views of the surrounding landscape, and creates visual permeability that relieves potential heaviness of the massed forms. The landscape treatment, featuring naturalistic grasses and mature trees visible through and around the structure, suggests an intentional dialogue between built intervention and environmental context, where architecture neither dominates nor retreats but rather engages in active conversation with its setting. Technical accomplishment is evident in the precision of the cladding joints, the crispness of the cantilevered edges, and the seamless integration of glazing systems within the angular framework. The composition invites contemplation of how contemporary residential architecture might achieve monumentality while remaining responsive to landscape and human scale.

Unique Properties
Shopare means bat in our local language (Gilaki).
Architects use typography as a part of architectural design and add the feeling of floating.
They close most of the north side because of rain, on the contrary, by opening space on other sides, they wanna design Shopare in a way people feel that they live in the heart of the forest.
Dimensions & Packaging
The house's main area consists of the social area, which includes a living room, kitchen, and sitting area, seeking to create an environment of connection between the interior and exterior through the spaciousness of the space and the floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing the exterior landscape to be framed and fill the interior with light. In this same space, wooden beams were used that, in the rhythm of repetition, create a more interesting perspective, taking the vanishing point to the living room of the house.

Production Technology
The materials used had to be durable and require minimal maintenance. The choice of pre-finished steel as the main cladding material for walls and roofs quickly became apparent for its characteristics and aesthetic. The choice of the grey and anthracite panel coloring echoes the multiple shades of grey of the surrounding.

Diagonal cutting of floor-to-ceiling glass and large windows brings beautiful nature around, warmth, and brightness to the house.

Poured concrete was a natural choice for the lower level, which houses the technical spaces and houses the entrance.

It connects the house from two corners like a bridge to the ground, defining the horizontality of the base while lifting the primary spaces that are topped with a flat roof line.
Project Duration
The project started in 2021 in Gilan, Iran.
Operation Flow
It's a simple design and it can be built easily by a steel frame like a box. The materials canmove to the buildingsite even as a prefabricated and then assembledthere. The main key elementof this building is a bonding glass box which can separatetwo sides of the building. Walkingon a glass floor in the middle of a building can bring a sense of freedomin nature.
Inspiration
The design was inspired by the beautiful site, its colors, textures, and the context of the field surrounded by forest.

It was obvious that the house had to take full advantage of the location by directing views from all of the main spaces toward the jungle and field.

The other main design criteria was the integration of all the rooms on one level, which proved to be an important challenge.

Design Interview about Shopare Residential

Minimalism, simplicity, and modernity are key design principles that can be enhanced by incorporating natural elements to evoke a sense of joy and freshness. By utilizing clean lines, simple shapes, and a minimalistic aesthetic, designers can create visually appealing and functional spaces that promote harmony and well-being.

Designing for durability involves using high-quality materials and incorporating functional and visually appealing elements. Achieving a sharp design requires clean lines, geometric shapes, a minimalistic aesthetic, and contrasting colors and textures. By combining these principles, designers can create a visually impactful design that is both durable and functional.

The future plans for an award-winning design involve promoting and refining the design, utilizing its recognition to showcase the designers' abilities, and cultivating durability in their design language and style. The objective is to leverage the power of the award to continue innovating impactful architectural designs.

If the main concept for the design is based on a pre-existing design thinking model that has been available for a long time, it can significantly reduce the time and effort required for planning and development. Leveraging an established design thinking model can simplify the design process and make it easier to create a real-world design within a month.

Creating a design concept can bring ideas to reality and inspire new designs. Shooting out a design from the mind can move the design process forward and lead to new creations. However, design is often an iterative process, with initial concepts serving as a starting point for further development.

They are open to selling their new designs to expand their reach and create new opportunities. However, the decision to sell or license their designs would depend on their specific business goals and resources.
