About Organic Line Contemporary Jewelry Line
The Organic line works the fold by means of a rolled and, depending on the case, warped surface. The formal feature that articulates the product line is the cleft, both horizontally and vertically. This involves the transformation of flat geometric shapes (rectangles and squares) into volumetric shapes (slits) by means of straight cross sections and strategic joints at a point. The cleft contributes mainly to the meaning of the concepts of rhythm and organicity.
Within the distinguished lineage of contemporary studio jewelry, Mayté Ossorio Domecq's Organic Line emerges as a compelling meditation on the dialogue between natural phenomena and refined metalsmithing tradition, inviting consideration of how organic forms might be translated into precious materials without sacrificing the inherent fluidity that makes such forms so visually compelling. The cuff bracelet presented here demonstrates remarkable technical accomplishment in its seamless integration of smoothly polished surfaces with precisely executed ribbed passages, a juxtaposition that rewards sustained observation as light travels across its undulating contours. One notes the designer's sophisticated understanding of how jewelry functions both as autonomous sculptural object and as element in dynamic relationship with the human body—the twisted central section of the cuff appears engineered to follow the natural curvature of the wrist while the radiating grooves create visual interest from multiple viewing angles. The accompanying ring extends this formal vocabulary to a smaller scale, its fan-like ridged surface suggesting the unfurling of a fern frond or the radial symmetry of marine organisms, establishing thematic coherence across the collection while respecting the proportional demands of different placement on the body. The work participates in venerable traditions of jewelry as personal sculpture, recalling mid-century modernist explorations of organic abstraction in precious metals while articulating a distinctly contemporary sensibility through its confident scale and bold tactile presence. The presentation against pristine white fabric demonstrates acute awareness of how context shapes perception of precious objects, the neutral ground allowing the silver's inherent luminosity to command attention without chromatic interference. The chromatic restraint—cool silver against warm skin against pure white—creates a tripartite harmony of remarkable sophistication. Viewers might contemplate what it means to carry sculptural forms upon one's body, how jewelry mediates between inner identity and outer presentation, and what conversations emerge when the timeless allure of precious metals meets the organic dynamism of natural forms translated through human creative vision.

- Unique Properties
- The Organic line, 2018, works the fold by means of a rolled and, depending on the case, warped surface. The formal feature that articulates the product line is the cleft, both horizontally and vertically. Depending on the case, the crease contributes to the primary function of the product. However, the cleft contributes mainly to the meaning of the concepts of rhythm and organicity.

- Production Technology
- Material: double glued cowhide leather. Manufacture: Manual. The guiding idea was based on the generation of volumes (3D pieces) obtained from planes (geometric surfaces). For this purpose, the internal, regular and transversal straight cuts were established, allowing flexibility. The joints had to be minimal, so they had to be joined at a single point. The bracelets by a single central point and the earrings rolled up on themselves diagonally. To fasten and unfasten for use, the bracelet and ring have metal cuff links, and the earrings have a stainless steel wire loop.
- Design Challenge
- When the development of this project was proposed, we had already been working on the generation of volumes from surfaces, but we always found ourselves with solutions that took a long time to produce. It was then that the challenge was to achieve it with a single joint and still work as a product and fit the body. In all cases the response amazed us as they were assimilated and valued by our users immediately.
Figure rolled / warped surface. Slit elements. Full metallic colors. - Project Duration
- The project started in October 2017 and finished in January 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
- Operation Flow
- They are designed to be comfortable to wear, so that the wearer can put them on without help. They are designed for daily use and with the appropriate weights so as not to cause damage to the user.
In the case of the bracelet and the ring, they have metal cufflinks that serve to fasten and unfasten for use.
In the case of the ring, it is adjustable.
The bracelet has a single position, but you can customize its anchorage, as well as the earrings, which can be shortened.
In the case of the earrings, a stainless steel wire is used to generate the curl that will be introduced into the earlobe. - Research
- Research type direct experimentation on the material.
The Objective: To transform a flat surface into a three-dimensional object through cuts. Until finding the way, months of tests with different types of cuts and joints to obtain the final shape.
These proposals have been used as an example of design for the formulation of graduate theses, has obtained the Seal of Good Argentine Design and is sold among others in the MALBA and Mudam and MUMeDi museum stores. - Inspiration
- "Geometry is to nature what grammar is to the art of writing"
Transformation of flat geometric shapes (rectangles and squares) into volumetric shapes (clefts) through straight cross sections and strategic joints at one point. This, together with the brand's own values of material recovery, seek to extend the perception of the objects as unique and durable pieces. - Image Credits
