About Shougang Soreal Xr Park Space Design

Shougang Soreal Xr Park is an interior and exhibition space located in Beijing. The park occupies a former industrial heritage site. The original building form is preserved, with a six storey main building and a three storey side building connected internally. Structural changes, metallic paints and stainless steel plates shape a science fiction atmosphere. Virtual reality, augmented reality, motion tracking and spatial sensing support interactive content. Flexible pathways and themed zones guide visitors through the park.

Within the evolving landscape of experiential design and immersive entertainment architecture, this spatial environment by Skylimit Entertainment Group exemplifies a sophisticated synthesis of industrial heritage preservation and forward-looking technological spectacle. The installation appears to engage with traditions of theatrical set design, theme park environmental storytelling, and contemporary exhibition practice, creating a liminal threshold space that prepares visitors psychologically for transformative experiences beyond. The commanding sculptural centerpiece, rendered as a biomechanical entity suspended in dramatic diagonal orientation, suggests influences ranging from science fiction concept art traditions to kinetic sculpture practices, while its glowing crimson apertures evoke the anthropomorphization of machinery that has captivated human imagination since the industrial revolution. The environmental lighting strategy demonstrates considerable technical sophistication, orchestrating multiple color temperatures and intensities to create distinct experiential zones within the unified volume, the cool blue wash establishing atmospheric depth while warm amber pools define circulation and gathering areas. The integration of large-scale digital display surfaces reflects contemporary practices in media architecture, where built environments increasingly incorporate responsive and programmable visual elements. The preservation of industrial ceiling infrastructure, with its exposed structural elements and linear lighting arrays, creates meaningful dialogue between the space's material heritage and its contemporary programmatic transformation. The composition invites consideration of how entertainment architecture shapes anticipation and wonder, preparing visitors for immersive experiences through carefully orchestrated visual drama. One might contemplate how such environments mediate between everyday reality and fantastical realms, creating threshold experiences that heighten receptivity to narrative and sensory engagement.

Unique Properties
The park integrates the historical culture of the industrial heritage site with modern sci-fi elements for an experience that transcends time and space. It preserves the original form and utilizes innovative structural transformations and materials to ensure versatility and visual appeal. The design team has cleverly crafted flexible pathways and thematic zoning to provide an unlimited and virtualized free experience.
Dimensions & Packaging
Architecture: It consists of a main building and a side building. The former retains an original building form - a six-storied columnar shape, and the latter is a three-storied cuboid block, both of which are connected internally.
Spatial design: The main structure totaling 6 floors is independent, the southern building is 33m high, and the northern building with 4 floors is terraced while maintaining a coherent appearance.

Production Technology
The park uses several cutting-edge technologies, such as depth camera-based human action recognition, eye movement tracking, leap motion technology, and real-time computing somatosensory interaction systems, combined with 5G + Bluetooth AOA technology, to achieve navigation via the mobile phone APP and accurate positioning. The metallic and artistic paints and stainless steel plates have undergone various techniques to create a unique atmosphere.
Design Challenge
The design of the Shougang SoReal XR Park encountered many challenges, such as design orientation, complex structural transformation, and structural design. The design team successfully navigated these obstacles through thorough design analysis, advanced technology integration, and the utilization of innovative materials. This resulted in the creation of an immersive space that emanates a sci-fi ambiance, uniquely blended with elements reflecting Chinese characteristics.
Project Duration
The project started in 2023 in Beijing.
Operation Flow
We've integrated several products through virtual reality, augmented reality, and other technologies. Together with spatial sensing and data analysis capabilities, this park provides a more intelligent and interactive experience. At the same time, AI algorithms can analyze user preferences and emotional states to auto-generate multiple storylines, allowing users to choose according to their preferences.
Research
The program team delved deep into the architectural site, Shougang industrial heritage site, and the living ambiance in Beijing City, leading to the establishment of the park's orientation. In collaboration with professional manufacturers and structural design specialists, we've resolved intricate obstacles and realized our design vision in terms of structural transformation and structural design.
Inspiration
The design inspiration is derived from the respect for the industrial heritage site and the aspiration for future technology. In light of the burgeoning digital economy, this project endeavors to venture into innovative digital realms that seamlessly blend the past with the future, as well as culture with technology, thus giving rise to an entirely novel sci-fi universe.
