About Science Stories in Daily Life Textbooks
Science Stories in Daily Life is a series of cover designs for high school science textbooks. The series includes physics, chemistry, life sciences and earth sciences, together with related subject volumes. Each cover uses original illustrations that connect science to everyday moments, so the topic of each book is easy to understand. Simple colors and linked graphics give the series a common direction, while distinct colors identify each subject. Holograms and other post-processing add detail. Each cover measures 210 by 275 millimeters.
Educational publishing occupies a unique position within applied design practice, requiring simultaneous attention to pedagogical efficacy, cognitive developmental appropriateness, visual engagement strategies, and disciplinary content integrity, and Mirae-N Design Team's Science Stories in Daily Life Textbooks series demonstrates accomplished navigation of these competing demands through a unified yet varied approach to science curriculum visualization that positions complex disciplinary knowledge within accessible, character-driven narrative frameworks designed to cultivate sustained student curiosity and subject affinity during formative educational stages. The series architecture employs a recurring anthropomorphic protagonist rendered in simplified geometric vocabulary with distinctive circular ocular elements that create immediate recognizability and emotional connection, functioning as a consistent visual anchor and identification figure that guides learners through diverse scientific domains from cosmic and planetary systems suggested by the celestial imagery and ringed planetary forms in the first volume, through biological and ecological concepts evoked by the verdant botanical archway and organic growth metaphors of the second, into physical principles of sound, energy, and communication represented through contemporary technological objects in the vibrant third volume, and culminating in applied engineering and transportation sciences visualized through vehicular forms and mechanical elements in the earth-toned fourth volume, creating a comprehensive curricular journey that moves from abstract cosmic scales to tangible everyday applications, mirroring effective pedagogical sequencing from wonder-inducing phenomena to practical understanding. The chromatic strategy demonstrates particular sophistication, eschewing the conventional primary color palette often defaulted to in educational materials aimed at younger audiences in favor of a more nuanced progression through secondary and tertiary relationships that respect student visual intelligence while maintaining high saturation levels necessary for attention capture and page appeal in classroom and home study environments where materials compete for engagement against increasingly sophisticated digital media alternatives. Each cover functions as a contained illustrative world employing portal or frame devices, architectural arches, vehicle interiors, and flowing curvilinear boundaries that create distinct pictorial zones inviting entry and exploration, a spatial strategy borrowed from picture book illustration traditions that acknowledges the liminal nature of educational materials as thresholds between ignorance and understanding, confusion and clarity, disinterest and fascination. The consistent application of geometric pattern to spine edges, the thoughtful integration of typography that remains subordinate to imagery while maintaining essential informational clarity, the employment of overlapping and layering both within individual compositions and in the photographed arrangement of the series itself, and the careful balance between visual complexity sufficient to reward repeated viewing throughout extended curriculum engagement and compositional clarity necessary for immediate subject identification all suggest design authorship attuned to the specific affordances and constraints of educational material development where aesthetic achievement serves pedagogical mission rather than operating as autonomous formal exercise. One might observe how the series positions scientific inquiry not as austere disciplinary knowledge divorced from daily experience but as an integrated dimension of contemporary life accessible through friendly visual mediation, raising the question of how design choices in formative educational materials shape not merely knowledge acquisition in specific content domains but broader epistemological attitudes toward learning itself and the perceived accessibility or alienation of scientific ways of knowing that will influence educational trajectories and disciplinary affinities throughout subsequent academic development and lifelong intellectual engagement with our increasingly science-mediated contemporary world.
Press Kit
- Unique Properties
- Recognizing the differences between science textbooks with various fields, the content characteristics of each subject in a common direction were designed effectively to create good synergy for the common purpose of science books along with the characteristics of each field by using new and imaginative illustrations that were not seen in existing textbooks.

- textbook, education
- Production Technology
- Considering the characteristics and contents of each subject, the design was designed to show clear characteristics through post-processing such as holograms along with the use of color and graphics suitable for each subject,
With a little wit and fun details, the user could accept it more positively, making it a friendly sign. - Design Challenge
- The identity was created by using graphic illustrations that show the contents of the textbook well, and the use of simple colors increased the scalability of the series, enabling the cover design of various series.
- Project Duration
- It was planned and produced in 2024 and will be used as a textbook from March 2025.
- Operation Flow
- Without missing the daily moments of science, it was composed of original illustrations and imagination so that it was easy to understand the curiosity and subject of the textbook content.
In addition, common directivity was shown through graphic connectivity and simple color use to set the common direction of the textbook cover. - Research
- Consistency and differentiation made it possible to intuitively know the characteristics of each subject, giving convenience to use, It is designed to express the contents of each subject in a fun and interesting way so that students can accept science subjects positively with empathy and familiarity.
- Inspiration
- In the future, high school science textbook cover design.
It consists of physics, chemistry, life sciences, earth sciences, mechanics and energy, matter and energy, cell and matter metabolism, earth systems science, electromagnetic and quantum, the world of chemical reactions, the inheritance of living things, and planetary space science.
