About Luxebay Art Gallery Sales Center

Luxebay Art Gallery is a sales center interior in Wanning, Hainan, completed in October 2023. The space covers 1300 square meters and is planned as a simple and open layout with abundant natural light. A series of sculptures was created for the project, and the sculptures are encountered one by one as visitors move through the space. Hand painted plants drawn from Greek myth, such as olive trees, laurels, reeds, sunflowers and daffodils, adorn the figures. Other decoration is reduced and low classic furniture keeps the visual focus on the sculptures.

YHDQ Design's Luxebay Art Gallery Sales Center occupies a distinctive position within contemporary spatial design practices that seek to dissolve conventional boundaries between commercial function and aesthetic experience, creating environments where the act of viewing, contemplating, and potentially acquiring artworks unfolds within architecturally choreographed settings that themselves aspire to artwork status. The project demonstrates accomplished integration of structural expression, material refinement, and spatial phenomenology, deploying a vocabulary of continuous curves, pristine surfaces, and carefully calibrated light to establish an atmosphere of serene luxury conducive to unhurried aesthetic engagement. The sculptural ceiling plane achieves particular formal success, its intersecting curved volumes creating dynamic overhead relief that suggests both organic growth patterns and deliberate geometric abstraction, the matte white finish allowing subtle shadow play to articulate three-dimensional depth while maintaining overall luminosity, this architectural gesture functioning simultaneously as functional enclosure and contemplative focal point that rewards upward attention. The floor-to-ceiling glazing demonstrates compositional intelligence in its rhythmic vertical mullion pattern that establishes measured cadence across the panoramic opening, framing the distant landscape as living artwork while maintaining structural legibility, the transparency creating visual extension beyond physical boundaries and establishing dialogue between interior refinement and natural grandeur. The chromatic restraint evident throughout the palette, anchored in warm neutrals with subtle tonal variation, creates cohesive atmospheric unity while allowing accent moments such as the sculptural floral installation to register with particular resonance, the limited color range paradoxically amplifying rather than diminishing sensory richness through emphasis on material texture, spatial volume, and light modulation. The furnishing strategy employing deeply channeled upholstery creates distinctive formal identity through pronounced vertical fluting that produces rhythmic surface animation and substantial tactile presence, the rounded silhouettes and generous scale suggesting invitation and comfort while maintaining sculptural clarity as design objects worthy of contemplation in their own right. Thematically, the space explores the contemporary luxury retail paradigm that positions acquisition within broader frameworks of lifestyle aspiration, aesthetic education, and experiential pleasure, the gallery sales center functioning as stage for social encounter, contemplative retreat, and aesthetic immersion where commercial transaction becomes embedded within richer ceremonial and sensory contexts. The biophilic integration of substantial botanical elements suggests awareness of human psychological affinity for natural forms and processes, the arching branches and organic irregularity providing counterpoint to architectural precision while reinforcing connections between artistic making and natural growth. The reflective flooring creates spatial doubling and amplified luminosity, this mirroring effect dissolving solidity and creating ethereal atmosphere where objects and architectural elements hover between material presence and immaterial reflection. One might contemplate how this environment shapes the experience of encountering artworks or design objects within its bounds, whether the architectural gesture enhances or competes with displayed works, how the prospect of natural landscape through floor-to-ceiling transparency influences perception of artifice and craft within the interior, and what relationships the space proposes between aesthetic appreciation, material luxury, social gathering, and the construction of aspirational identity through designed environments.

Unique Properties
If public space provides the physical basis for urban development, then art and humanities give it content and scene power.
Following this principle, the designer uses an artistic expression full of humanistic philosophy to create a series of sculptures tailored for the "Luxebay Art Gallery" project. With the flow of space, they meet one by one, trying to vividly project the true meaning of a good life.

Production Technology
Drawing inspiration from Homer's epic poems, the artist has Freehand painting many magical plants that have passed by goddesses and heroes in mythology: olive trees, laurels, reed flowers, sunflowers, daffodils... They come from mythology, so there's an extra layer of fantasy. Finally, these ideas are made by human hands, one after another, and bloom above the gods.
Design Challenge
We attached flowers to each statue, opening a surreal dialogue between humans and flowers that was incrementally-incredible. Flowers incarnate as totems, bursting into life, walking between the ordinary and the extraordinary.
Project Duration
Completed in October 2023, the site is located in Wanning, Hainan
Operation Flow
The project has plenty of light and simple and open space. In order to give people a more generous and free feeling, we chose classic furniture with a sense of wholeness, flow and extension. At the same time, we lowered the center of gravity, so the visual focus naturally stayed on the sculpture like the advent of gods.
Research
Flowers imply duality, delicate and tough, precious and ordinary, short and eternal. Metaphorical human nature needs the continuous watering of humanism to flourish. The earliest schools of philosophy were born in the garden, where rich ideas, high virtues, and great souls inhabit.
Inspiration
The design attempts to arouse the viewer's emotions and mobilize the projection of memory and mind through enhanced perception. The design logic consists of three parts:
1. Cultural motifs of myth and nature.
2. Visual conflict between minimalism and complexity.
3. Order system of repetition and progression.
