About Snapcool Air Conditioner
Snapcool is an air conditioner designed for home use. The filter is inspired by a tape measure and can be rolled up or unfolded with a single tap on the screen. The screen shows the real-time dust level of the filter, and the dust bin can be pulled down for removal. An orange puller marks the filter compartment and draws attention to the filter status. The filter can be rinsed with water and reused. Side wall air intake increases the air intake area, and the round air outlet angle can be adjusted by phone. The unit measures 400 by 80 by 400 millimeters.
Within the broader tradition of domestic climate control design, this work by ZHEJIANG ZHONGGUANG ELECTRICAL CO.,LTD. represents a thoughtful meditation on the intersection of functional technology and sculptural presence, transforming a utilitarian necessity into an object of contemplative beauty. The Snapcool Air Conditioner appears to engage deliberately with the visual language of celestial bodies and architectural roundels, suggesting that temperature regulation might be elevated from mere mechanical function to an act of environmental orchestration. The designer's decision to employ a perfectly circular form recalls both the timeless geometry of sacred architecture and the precision of scientific instruments, positioning the object as simultaneously ancient in its archetypal resonance and contemporary in its technological sophistication. Technical accomplishment manifests in the seamless integration of multiple surface treatments within a unified formal vocabulary, where the progression from outer matte ring through reflective channel to central display creates a visual journey that rewards extended observation. The chromatic strategy demonstrates remarkable restraint, allowing the single terracotta fabric tab to function as a grounding element that connects the technological object to traditions of craft and tactile engagement. This approach suggests an awareness of how domestic technologies might integrate more harmoniously into lived environments, offering visual calm rather than technological intrusion. The triangular filter indicator introduces a subtle geometric counterpoint, its angular form creating dynamic tension with the prevailing circularity while communicating practical information with elegant efficiency. One might consider how this design philosophy positions environmental comfort as an aesthetic experience, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between technological innovation and domestic sanctuary.

- Unique Properties
- This air conditioner is designed with a tape measure in mind. With just a light tap on the screen, the filter can be rolled up or unfolded with just one click, solving the problems of inconvenient disassembly and cleaning of traditional filters and dust generation during cleaning. The screen displays the real-time status of the filter screen being full of dust, and the dust bin can be pulled down to remove it. With the side pull design, it makes cleaning efficient and fun.

- Side wall air intake, increasing the air intake area and airflow effect. Orange filter compartment puller, easy to take out downward, eye-catching color can always remind people to pay attention to the filter status.Circle shape air outlet, users can freely switch the angle of air outlet on the phone.
- Design Challenge
- The first problem we face is how to make it easy to dismantle the filter screen; Secondly, consider how to reduce the raised dust when the filter screen is taken out; Finally, we need to think about how to remind users to replace the filter screen.
- Project Duration
- The project started in Lishui, China in September 2024
- Operation Flow
- Side wall air intake, increasing the air intake area and airflow effect. Orange filter compartment puller, easy to take out downward, eye-catching color can always remind people to pay attention to the filter status.Simple geometric modeling, suitable for a variety of home environments, compared with traditional air conditioners have a sense of technology, sense of fashion Circle shape air outlet, users can freely switch the angle of air outlet on the phone.
- Research
- Traditional air conditioning filters are difficult to disassemble and clean, and removing the filter can easily raise dust. Therefore, an air conditioner that is easy to disassemble and clean has been designed. The filter can be repeatedly rinsed with water, which is more economical and practical for users and more friendly to the social environment.Save time and labor, reduce the cost of manual cleaning air conditioning.
- Inspiration
- The design concept comes from the "tape measure" which can make the filter retract and unfold to meet the function. Simple geometric modeling, suitable for a variety of home environments, compared with traditional air conditioners have a sense of technology, sense of fashion. Pulling out the filter from the side is like using a tape measure, which increases the fun of cleaning the filter.
