About Rotunda Sale Center
Rotunda is a sales center interior that also serves as a clubhouse and exhibition space. The design is organized around a central circular hall, which acts as the visual focus and connects the meeting rooms, lounges and offices. A waterfall-inspired lighting feature illuminates the hall. Iridescent glass panels and mirrored ceilings shape the atmosphere, and the glass is recyclable. Large glass panels were bent to follow the curved walls. The open and fluid layout supports art exhibitions and social interaction.
Kris Lin's Rotunda Sale Center exemplifies the pinnacle of contemporary commercial interior design, where architectural ambition and experiential sophistication converge to create a space that transcends mere functionality to achieve genuine spatial artistry. The designer appears to have drawn upon the venerable tradition of the classical rotunda—that perfect circular form employed from the Pantheon through Enlightenment-era reading rooms—while reinventing its symbolic and experiential possibilities for twenty-first-century commercial contexts. The extraordinary chandelier installation, with its interlocking orbital geometries and cascading luminous elements, suggests an engagement with both astronomical imagery and the crystalline formations found in nature, creating a centerpiece that rewards extended contemplation while establishing unmistakable spatial hierarchy. The chromatic strategy demonstrates considerable sophistication: the progression from warm earth-toned stone at the human scale through the dramatic blue tessellated upper walls creates an experiential journey from grounded materiality toward celestial aspiration, a sequence that may serve both aesthetic and psychological functions within the commercial presentation context. The tessellated wall treatment, with its fragmented geometric pattern in varying shades of blue, evokes associations with precious materials—lapis lazuli, sapphire, glacial ice—while maintaining the contemporary abstraction appropriate to current design discourse. Technical accomplishment is evident throughout: the seamless integration of architectural lighting within the ceiling ring, the precise material transitions between stone, metal, and glass, and the calculated placement of the central display element all demonstrate meticulous attention to both detail and overall spatial choreography. The inclusion of an architectural model as the functional focus invites consideration of how such spaces frame and elevate the objects they present, transforming commercial display into something approaching ceremonial revelation. What qualities of presence and aspiration does such monumental spatial treatment evoke in those who enter?

- Challenge:
Large-scale production and installation of iridescent glass in the circular hall.
The glass dimensions are up to 1400mm x 10mm x 3000mm and need to be bent into a perfect arc for the circular area. To address this challenge, the design team collaborated with glass manufacturers and utilized advanced bending technology to ensure each piece of glass fit the curved structure perfectly without damage. Through multiple sample tests, the team successfully achieved precise installation, meeting aesthetic requirements while ensuring the flawless presentation of the structure. - Project Duration
