About Tramae Wallcovering Collection

Tramae is a wallcovering collection for interior surfaces. The design translates the sand casting technique of Italian artist Costantino Nivola into a three dimensional relief with a sandy texture. Tramae is produced on GlamOrigin, a matt material made of quartz powder layered on a non-woven fabric backing. Four free match patterns are offered in Pure White or Silk Grey. The patterns and the two tones can be combined to create calm or more dynamic surfaces. The hand worked effect is transferred to a ready to use material, so tactile depth is achieved on large areas.

Glamora's Tramae Wallcovering Collection exemplifies the contemporary turn toward surfaces that engage both visual and haptic sensibilities, positioning interior architecture as a medium for sensory experience rather than mere background presence, this award-winning design draws upon centuries of textile and plasterwork traditions while translating their essential qualities into innovative wallcovering technology, the intricate relief pattern suggests affinities with historical lacework, fossilized natural specimens, and the organic geometries found in microscopic cellular structures, creating what might be understood as a meditation on the relationship between natural form and human craft, the technical achievement evident in producing such consistent yet organically varied dimensional patterning across an architectural surface speaks to advanced manufacturing processes married to sophisticated design thinking, compositional presentation within this image demonstrates masterful understanding of how light reveals material character, with the oblique illumination transforming the wallcovering into an ever-shifting field of subtle shadows and luminous peaks that would animate throughout the day as natural light conditions change, the carefully curated styling objects serve not to compete with but to complement and contextualize the wallcovering's refined presence, their dark tones and decisive forms providing necessary visual anchors while allowing the textured surface to maintain its role as primary subject, thematically the work invites consideration of how contemporary design practice honors material presence and tactile experience in an increasingly digital age, perhaps suggesting that luxury in interior environments emerges not from ostentation but from the quiet sophistication of surfaces that reward close attention and continued discovery, viewers might contemplate how such dimensional treatments transform the psychological experience of architectural space, creating environments that feel crafted, considered, and fundamentally responsive to human presence and touch.

Production Technology
Tramae Collection are made on GlamOrigin material: a matt, three-dimensional textured wallcovering, characterised by incisions and reliefs that evoke the sculpted plaster or handcrafted concrete. Its composition, obtained through a semi-artisan production process, is a layering of quartz powder on a non-woven fabric backing. Distinctive features, such as the irregular effect of the surface and slight variations in tone, derive from the use of natural raw materials. These elements emphasise its uniqueness and enhance its aesthetic value, giving it an authentic character.
Project Duration
The collection is distinguished by its exceptional design versatility. Its structure, composed of four free-match patterns and two combinable tones, allows for compositions ranging from subtle, understated solutions to configurations that bring movement and depth to surfaces. For example, different patterns can be combined in the same shade to create a minimal monochromatic effect, or variations of the same pattern can be alternated in different colours for a more expressive and dynamic result.
Inspiration
The collection pays tribute to Italian artist Costantino Nivola (1911–1988) and his invented sand-casting technique: pouring plaster or concrete onto sand sculpted in negative to obtain pleasantly irregular reliefs. It secured his reputation as a “sculptor for architecture”, with collaborations on Modernist icons such as the Olivetti showroom in New York. Glamora now reinterprets this approach, creating a timeless wallcovering that evokes the aesthetic of handcrafted surface treatments.
