About Third Pole Bedding Set
Third Pole is a four piece bedding set designed for the bedroom. The set is made with silk yarn dyed jacquard weaving, and the natural luster of the silk recalls light on glaciers. The patterns draw on the glaciers and highland steeds of the Tibetan Plateau. Two versions are offered, Ice Blue and Lava Gold, each creating a different mood. A unified three in one weaving construction shows the main pattern fully on 1.8 metre and 2 metre beds. The silk surface regulates warmth and feels smooth on the skin.
Hunan Mine Hometextile Technology's Third Pole Bedding Set emerges from contemporary textile design traditions that honor the enduring human impulse to transform functional domestic objects into vehicles for aesthetic expression and sensory delight, positioning sleeping environments as curated spaces where materiality, craftsmanship, and chromatic sophistication converge to elevate daily rituals of rest into experiences worthy of contemplation and appreciation. The compositional achievement evident in this presentation demonstrates sophisticated understanding of how textile color, surface treatment, and spatial arrangement communicate quality, luxury, and aspiration, employing a boldly edited palette that eschews decorative excess in favor of concentrated chromatic impact built upon the dramatic juxtaposition of cool midnight blue tones against warm burgundy atmospheric accents. The technical execution reveals mastery across multiple textile manufacturing domains: the lustrous satin ground fabric suggests high-thread-count weaving with mercerization or calendering processes that compress and polish fiber surfaces to achieve the remarkable liquid sheen visible across the draped forms, while the decorative embellishment appears to employ either high-relief embroidery with dimensional thread application or complex jacquard weaving that creates textured patterning through differential pile heights and directional light reflection. The organic flowing motifs that traverse the bedding surface evoke natural phenomena, perhaps suggesting the movement of water currents, the growth patterns of botanical forms, or the abstract energy of elemental forces, rendered with sufficient stylization to avoid literal representation while maintaining clear visual interest and tactile dimension that rewards close examination. The chromatic strategy demonstrates particular sophistication in its deployment of color temperature contrast as a spatial and hierarchical organizing principle: the cool indigo and midnight blue tones that dominate the bedding ensemble suggest depth, tranquility, and nocturnal associations appropriate to sleeping environments, while the warm burgundy tones visible in the background architectural elements create spatial recession and atmospheric warmth, establishing clear figure-ground relationships and preventing the cool-dominant palette from becoming emotionally remote or excessively austere. The presentation staging reveals careful attention to how textile products communicate value and desirability through environmental context, employing dramatic theatrical lighting that creates sculptural dimension across the fabric folds while architectural screens and flanking pedestals provide spatial structure and cultural resonance that elevates the bedding beyond mere functional commodity into the realm of designed objects worthy of aesthetic consideration. The work invites viewers to consider how domestic textiles participate in broader conversations about material culture, craft heritage, and the human desire to surround ourselves with objects that offer not merely utility but also beauty, sensory pleasure, and the quiet affirmation that daily life deserves aesthetic attention and thoughtful design, prompting reflection on how the spaces we inhabit and the materials that touch our bodies during vulnerable states of rest might contribute to overall well-being, psychological comfort, and the construction of personal sanctuary within the built environment.

- Production Technology
- The four piece bedding set is crafted using premium silk yarn dyed jacquard weaving. The natural luster of silk mimics the changing reflections of glaciers under light. The yarn dyed weaving allows colors to shift with changes in perspective, ensuring long lasting color brilliance. Silk, rich in 18 amino acids, provides bidirectional thermal regulation, helping maintain skin moisture and delivering a comfortable, skinfriendly sensation. Its smooth surface creates a soothing sleeping environment.
- Design Challenge
- Translating the abstract spiritual healing into a perceivable physical experience is a big challenge. The design concretizes this through two key visual symbols, glacier and highland steed, and employs premium silk yarn dyed jacquard weaving to allow the pattern and colors to shift with changes in light and perspectives. Through visual and tactile interactions, users can intuitively perceive both tranquility and energy, evoking a resonance at the spiritual level.
- Project Duration
- The project was launched in Namcha Barwa, Medog County, Nyingchi, Tibet, China, in November 2024 and completed in Changsha, Hunan, China, in January 2025.
- Operation Flow
- The product is available in Ice Blue and Lava Gold, each evoking a distinct emotional experience. Ice Blue combines blue and black to evoke a serene and rational ambiance, promoting deep relaxation. Lava Gold merges gold and purple, radiating a mysterious charm and symbolizing a spiritual journey from introspection to awaking. The unified 3 in 1 weaving construction ensures that the main pattern is fully displayed when laid on 1.8 m or 2 m beds, ensuring the artistic integrity of the design.
- Research
- Modern urban dwellers often face mental stress and sleep disturbances. Research shows that the visual impression of bedding can influence sleep quality and emotional state, while natural imagery and specific colors can promote relaxation. The design team uses tranquil Tibetan glaciers and the free highland steeds as the core narrative elements and draws on color psychology to create Ice Blue and Lava Gold, forming a bedding set that soothes emotions and enhances sleep quality.
- Inspiration
- The design draws inspiration from the grandeur and spirituality of the Tibetan Plateau. Using glacier as its central motif, it captures its immense energy resting in absolute stillness, reflecting aspirations of modern people for a calm yet powerful state of life. The highland steed serves as a visual symbol representing faith, progress, and freedom, bringing a sense of vitality to the tranquil bedroom.
