About Cosmic Lounge Chair
Cosmic is a lounge chair designed for living rooms. The angular lines of Cosmic recall the futuristic rockets of the 1960s and the rear fenders of 1959 cars, combined with the noble look of Victorian era chairs. The structure has no square angles. A multilayer cushion with electric support adapts to different body types. The base is made of German beech wood and is assembled with a frame of solid poplar wood and angular aluminum reinforcements. The upholstery is finished by hand. Cosmic measures 700 mm wide, 820 mm deep and 760 mm high.

- Production Technology
- The built in base is made with German beech wood, and is assembled with a structure of solid poplar wood using aluminum angular reinforcements. All fit together to allow for maximum strength and timely follow-up to the intended design.
- Design Challenge
- The design of the manufacturing process, with high-tech machinery took a series of prototypes for maximum performance of the materials and the optimization of process automation. The piece was completely finished by hand in the upholstery, providing a particular character.
- Project Duration
- This project took 16 weeks from the first sketches to the final prototype for mass production, made in the laboratory and prototype design in Mérida, Yucatán, México.
- Operation Flow
- The amplitude and ergonomics of the chair allows various types of accommodation for an average person. It can be used as a rest or reading chair. The design provides a very modern architectural style for retro modern spaces.
- Research
- Laboratory tests and vector engineering studies were necessary to achieve that the angular lines connect in a reliable and durable way. The cushion system took a special study to allow perfect ergonomics.
- Inspiration
- Inspired by the fashion current “atom punk”, this piece has the noble visage of the Victorian era chairs, while showing the angular and dynamic lines of the 60’s futuristic rockets.
The vertices emulate the rear fenders of the 1959 cars, and its structure has no square angles, which gives it a very impressive dynamism that requires being the center of attention in any room. - Image Credits

Develop a signature design brand that can hold and commercialize this among other designs to the high end market.

It never surge from an influence of any kind from other furniture, yet, it is a fact that I’m a passionate of design and I see very frecuently the best design in the worlsd, one, because I enjoy the great designs with enthusiasm, two, because I live in a dynamic world influenced by concepts and fashions that put some floor to all of us, so we can have a certain starting point to build from ot to diverge from it on purpose.
The target audience for these designs are people who like to live surrounded by art willing to distinguish themselves by their good taste in original designs made by hand.
This design is distinguished by its angular and dynamic lines that emulate the futuristic rockets of the 60s, its structure lacking square angles makes it the focus of attention of the place.
The cosmic name comes from a collection inspired in the spacial facade of the 50s and early 60s, and try to describe the optimistic feeling of immense progress that they live in those years, almost everyone watching comics with space images and spaceships everywhere. This shapes are displayed in this design
