Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
When studying, the Department is the visual communication design, everthing about design are very interested in the work after understanding the space is particularly interested in the changes, and then the way to space design development until now.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
Ris Interior Design Co., Ltd. was established at Taichung city, Taiwan, in 2013. A group of design manias pursues timeless elegance and coexistence with utilitarian in interior space. The company dedicates to both classic aesthetics and contemporary solution on every project, aiming on long-term progress and sustainable connection with fashion, culture, society.
What is "design" for you?
Each designer does have own design style, for me, can be meaningful, not back to the popular design, will be my design goals, and make every design has exquisite details in which
What kinds of works do you like designing most?
Favorite design are many and different,like material, culture to mix and design, can express their unique language about design.
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
Favorite design are many and different,like material, culture to mix and design, can express their unique language about design.
What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
Perhaps because it is not in the college period is to study space design, so the design of the technology are derived from the real work of practical experience, there is no limited style.
Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
In addition to modelling design, the poetic style of materials, the use of work method, the future customer maintenance difficulty, should be the process of attention.
What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
At the beginning of design, enjoy the imagination of the most imaginative.
What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
How many times have completed the project, often see the finished product, are filled with moving.
What makes a design successful?
Exactly make correct use of the material in the right place, and can do with the integration with various other materials and aesthetic.
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
For customers, the design is good or bad, depends on whether to meet the needs of owners
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
Help everyone that up the live level and quality,higher aesthetics.
Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
Design is inspired by the subtle observations of life, keeping a certain focus on all the details of life, and keeping a constant stream of inspiration.
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
Although Taiwan has not been colonized by Holland and Portugal for too long, European-style buildings are scattered around and deeply influenced me, so I like to add some of these elements in my design.
Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
For up and coming designers, i would suggest them not to just conform to what customers demand but to focus on what you, as a designer, want. Also, every time when their customers ask for revision, they could see it as a chance to learn instead of seeing it as an obstruction. In this way, things will get better.
What skills are most important for a designer?
but the skills to communicate with client, how to express the imagination of the design, also always necessary skills.

Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?
With regard to the social contributions, it reminds me of the winner of Pulitzer Architecture Prize this year - B.V.Doshi (Indian architect). His design practice of taking human beings as the essential is not just evoking resonance but also deeply affecting the modern societies. As for me, so far although I do not have that strong impact on others I would do my best with limited conditions and focus on better living to practice my design. Meanwhile, I would find the appropriate balance of the natural environment, society and the financial conditions.
Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?
Yes, I want become a designer that bring the better life for everyone.
What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?
Favorite design is different style, material, culture to mix and design, can express their unique language design
What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?
In addition to all the designs that cater to customers’s requirements in terms of functionality, habits, experience, and visual impact, it should also keep the details and qualities to achieve the appropriate balance and harmony among all the elements of that space.
What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?
In addition to all the designs that cater to customers’s requirements in terms of functionality, habits, experience, and visual impact, it should also keep the details and qualities to achieve the appropriate balance and harmony among all the elements of that space.
What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?
I imagine a project that is not confined by the realm of time and presents the balance of the form, function and quality of life through various materials and details.
What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?
Like extremely symmetrical and highly asymmetrical design. If space allows, symmetrical design will be the most classic, if space is not allowed, like the use of irregular space asymmetric method, in a broken way in the reorganization of the complete shape
What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is my favorite. I appreciate and agree with his famous idea “Less is More”. My own interpretation of it is that decoration is not completely unacceptable but it has to be used with meaning and propose.
How long does it take you to finalize a design project?
Usually communicate with the guests to start, about 2 months to end of this project about 4 months
When you have a new design project, where do you start?
After making sure that we make a design that has met the customer’s need, fit their lifestyles, solved the possible user problems, I would go through the whole process of design again and make confirmation with customers, ensuring every detail is on the right tack.
Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?
I think design sets the trends, because everywhere has different culture, color, weather
How did you develop your skills as a master designer?
For up and coming designers, i would suggest them not to just conform to what customers demand but to focus on what you, as a designer, want. Also, every time when their customers ask for revision, they could see it as a chance to learn instead of seeing it as an obstruction. In this way, things will get better.
