Lara Wilkin born in Gladbeck, Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) is a Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Scenographer from Germany who is specialized and focused on profounded and social Illustrations and Vector Illustrations full of details. She got the Bachelor of Arts in “Design-Media-Communikation“ at the University of Applied Science and Arts - Dortmund and is upgrading her studies with the Master of Arts at the subject area of “Scenography and Communication“ - also in Dortmund. Information graphics are also a great area of interest for Ms. Wilkin. She likes to take the viewer of their work on a journey, provocative trips, insightful and informative trips - trips into the details.

What is "design" for you?

Design is a reasoned creation that makes sense and influences life

What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

My favorite design is the creation of life and the wonders we experience every day

From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

Designers influence people of all ages, it is our duty to shape responsibly and future-oriented

How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

Design will make life easier and more thought-provoking.It will give Designers who create with heart and mind and others who are dedicated to money even to the bad things.It always has been, it will be in the future, but now we reach every day more and more people.

What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?

Good designers are original and take the time they need. They represent their point of view and wants the best for the target group and not for the preference of the favorite color of the company boss - unless it is the company color ...

Can you talk a little about your design process?

do research, conceptualize, create and discard and work on it until it convinces

Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?

Think different and educate you on the press, not on social media.

Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?

Brain, paper & pen, laptop - no computer mouse, no drawing tablet.

What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

Good designers know to use the tools, great designers think different!

Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

There are some great designers, but the importance influence came from my Professor Johannes Graf (Dortmund, University of Applied Sciences and Arts) who impressed me professionally and personally and promoted / demanded my craft. His constructive criticism as my BA-caregiver has pushed me to make the Battlefield Wilderness something grand.

What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

Battlefield Wilderness - It's such a important and great topic!

What is the role of technology when you design?

Technology is a tool, but it should never play the most important role.

How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

It's so hard, so so hard to be famous like me! ;) Joking apart! I am grateful and blessed and hope for new contacts.
