About Neighbors Science City LN Residence Apartment

Neighbors Science City LN Residence is a serviced apartment interior located in a science park in Guangzhou, China. The residence offers units of one, two or three rooms with a living room, ranging from 64 to 140 square meters. Square boxes are used as a design element to reshape the urban neighborhood relationship and to create shared spaces. The same idea continues through the lobby bar, restaurant, gym and multifunction meeting room. New terrazzo is applied for its seamless finish and free color matching. The design aims to offer a warm and social setting for young residents.

Muchuan Xu's Neighbors Science City LN Residence Apartment represents a distinguished contribution to contemporary residential interior design, demonstrating sophisticated command of spatial orchestration, material selection, and atmospheric calibration that exemplifies thoughtful approaches to communal living environments. The design engages with traditions of hospitality architecture while introducing residential warmth through carefully considered material choices, most notably the bronze-toned architectural cladding that establishes visual gravitas while maintaining approachable scale through its articulated volumes and illuminated apertures. The compositional strategy employs bold geometric massing to define programmatic territories within the open atrium, creating distinct zones for arrival, gathering, and intimate conversation without relying on physical barriers. Particularly noteworthy is the integration of the whimsical blue sculptural figure, which serves multiple functions: establishing human scale against the monumental architecture, introducing accessible playfulness that counterbalances formal sophistication, and providing memorable wayfinding identity. The lighting design demonstrates exceptional sensitivity, layering recessed downlights, concealed cove illumination, and accent fixtures to create atmospheric depth while ensuring functional visibility throughout. The material palette exhibits refined restraint, with warm neutral tones predominating while metallic copper accents and the singular chromatic intervention of the sculpture prevent monotony. The flooring treatment creates elegant zonal definition through geometric patterning in complementary stone finishes. This work invites contemplation of how residential common spaces might balance the competing demands of institutional durability and domestic comfort, public representation and private refuge, sophisticated aesthetics and welcoming accessibility—questions that remain central to contemporary design discourse regarding collective dwelling environments.
