About Sterilized Band-aids Disinfection and Dressing

Sterilized Band-aids is an adhesive wound dressing that combines disinfection and covering in a single product. Each plaster is individually packaged with a sealed portion of medical iodine solution and printed instructions for use. The package is opened and folded so that the disinfectant can be squeezed onto the wound, and the dressing is then taken out and applied. Medical absorbent cotton and degradable paper are used, which keeps the cost low and the processing simple. The design reduces the risk of infection caused by covering a wound before cleaning it.

Yong Zhang's Disinfection and Dressing represents a thoughtful intervention within the contemporary landscape of medical packaging design, where considerations of user experience, hygiene communication, and visual accessibility converge to create objects that transcend mere functional containment. This work emerges from traditions of industrial design that prioritize human-centered approaches, where every formal decision serves both practical utility and psychological reassurance for users who may encounter the product during moments of physical vulnerability or distress. The designer demonstrates sophisticated command of chromatic restraint, deploying an almost exclusively achromatic palette punctuated by precisely calibrated cerulean accents that guide user interaction without overwhelming the clinical cleanliness essential to medical product perception. The rounded rectangular forms suggest contemporary design sensibilities informed by smartphone aesthetics and minimalist product language, creating objects that feel familiar and approachable rather than intimidating or overly institutional. Instructional graphics integrated directly into the packaging surface exemplify information design principles that reduce cognitive load during potentially stressful usage scenarios, transforming the package itself into a teaching tool that guides proper application technique. The systematic presentation of three units establishes visual coherence suggesting a comprehensive wound care system rather than isolated products, inviting consideration of how thoughtful packaging design can enhance treatment protocols and user confidence. The work invites viewers to contemplate how design excellence in medical contexts extends beyond aesthetic achievement to encompass genuine care for human wellbeing during vulnerable moments.

Unique Properties
Sterilized band-aids combine the two steps of disinfection and dressing. Many people are afraid of applying disinfectants to a fresh wound, and their immediate instinct is often to cover it up. This product helps overcome that fear. The band-aid plasters are individually packaged with instructions for use, and so are very easy to apply, even for first-time users.

Production Technology
This product mainly uses medical absorbent cotton, degradable paper and medical iodine volt, which has a low cost and easy to process.
Design Challenge
This is a band-aid with disinfectant function. The ingenious combination of disinfection and bandaging simplifies the use process and changes people's health concepts and safety awareness. The product is produced without any technical problems and subverts the traditional products. The next step is to get the product to market and get more people to understand and accept it.
Project Duration
The project began in January 2020 in Fushun, Liaoning Province, China, and ended in August 2020 in Fushun, Liaoning Province, China. The work was awarded the IF Design Talent Award(2020)in Germany. Silver Award of the 9th Taihu Award Dseign Competition. Exhibition at the 6th China (Wuxi) International Design Expo in November 2020.
Operation Flow
Setrilized Band-AIDS, after opening the package and folding it, the disinfectant can be squeezed out to disinfect the wound, and then the bandage can be taken out for bandaging. It is more convenient, hygienic and safe to disinfect and bandage the wound at one time.
Research
Band-aids on the market have a single function and need to be used separately with disinfectant. This is an original product design and has been patented. This product is jointly completed by designers and engineers. It is a university-enterprise cooperation project. It is an innovative product development and design based on the scientific research background and technical conditions of universities and colleges.
Inspiration
When people suffer minor skin trauma in the form of shallow cuts or abrasions, their first reaction is often to cover the wound with a Band-Aid to stop the bleeding. However, this simple treatment has a safety hazard, it allows bacteria on the surface of the wound to penetrate into the subcutaneous tissue and causes infection.
