About Animal Deadee Stamp Illustration

There are many animal themed stamps in China, but this is the first time that stamps have been dedicated to rare animals endemic to Yunnan. The 2021 International Biodiversity Conservation Summit was held in Yunnan, China. This design intends to use this set of stamps to spread the Chinese government's concept of environmental protection, calling on the world to care for the earth's home.

This exceptional stamp illustration series exemplifies the contemporary renaissance of decorative arts applied to functional graphic design, demonstrating how traditional pattern-making vocabularies can be reimagined to serve educational and conservation purposes. The designer appears to engage deliberately with folk art traditions, particularly the intricate paper-cutting practices and textile design heritage that have long celebrated the natural world through stylized representation. Each animal subject, spanning the majestic elephant, the distinctive snub-nosed monkey, the beloved panda, and the resplendent peacock, receives treatment as both zoological specimen and decorative icon, their forms becoming vehicles for elaborate surface embellishment that honors craft traditions while achieving thoroughly contemporary graphic clarity. The technical accomplishment demonstrates mastery of vector illustration, with each curve and pattern element resolved with precision while maintaining organic warmth and hand-crafted sensibility. Chromatic choices reveal sophisticated understanding of color theory, as each stamp establishes its own thermal character while contributing to a cohesive quartet that rewards both individual examination and collective appreciation. The integration of scientific nomenclature alongside common names in multiple scripts suggests an educational mission, positioning these designs as instruments of conservation awareness while never sacrificing aesthetic delight. The philatelic format itself carries symbolic weight, evoking the postal tradition's role in connecting distant communities and disseminating knowledge across boundaries. One might consider how these designs transform the humble postage stamp into a miniature gallery, each perforated edge framing a celebration of biodiversity rendered through the lens of human creative heritage.

Production Technology
Drawn stamp manuscripts are electronically color separated, electronically impositioned and plated to complete the plate making. Finally, it is done by offset printing.
Design Challenge
How to refine concrete animals into two dimensional abstract paintings with national characteristics is the most challenging part of the whole creation.
Project Duration
The project started in March 2020 in Kunming and finished in January 2021 in Kunming.
Operation Flow
Most of the animals on the stamps are endemic to Yunnan province, and the sight of these animals is reminiscent of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity in Yunnan, China.
Research
In order to commemorate the 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity in Yunnan, China, the team designed a lot of souvenirs, but the sustainability of the publicity was not ideal, and finally found that the stamps have a certain collection value, and the spread is relatively widespread, so the stamps were finally selected as a souvenir of this meeting. Illustrations reflect the local ethnic identity and cultural diversity, which is in line with the theme of biodiversity.
Inspiration
Due to modern human activities, many rare species are on the verge of extinction. Global climate anomalies and natural disasters in recent years have been a strong warning signal to humanity. It is hoped that the stamp will evoke human love for endangered animals and nature in the process of use. The design is inspired by Chinese poetry.
