About Trinity Collection Home Fragrance
The Trinity Collection is inspired by ice, which represents the moment in eternity and the eternal moment. The trinity of ice, water, and air could picture the dynamic change of moment, memory, and emotion. It intends to bring users back to true nature, by reproducing natural beauty with auditory, visual, olfactory, and tactile arts. With essence extracted from natural plants, it integrates natural aesthetics into the fragrance, only to preserve a uniqueness in the ever-changing world, and to let the extraordinary taste and style become a classic heirloom.
Xiutao FU's Trinity Collection Home Fragrance exemplifies the contemporary synthesis of functional design with sculptural contemplation, participating in a distinguished lineage of objects that elevate domestic utility to the realm of aesthetic experience. The work engages with modernist traditions of material honesty and geometric reduction while achieving a distinctive formal vocabulary through its innovative double-walled glass construction, wherein an inner reservoir appears to levitate within an outer protective shell, creating visual complexity through the layering of transparent surfaces. This approach to vessel design suggests awareness of both scientific glassware traditions and the broader movement toward dematerialization in contemporary object design, where physical presence is achieved paradoxically through transparency and lightness rather than mass and opacity. The technical achievement of creating such precise geometric forms in glass while maintaining optical clarity throughout demonstrates considerable mastery of the medium, with the seamless integration of inner and outer chambers requiring sophisticated manufacturing processes that leave no visible evidence of their complexity. The chromatic restraint, limited to the inherent properties of the glass itself, allows the interplay of light and form to become the primary expressive content, with subtle refractions and reflections animating the static object with ever-changing luminous effects dependent upon viewing angle and environmental illumination. The capsule-like outer form carries associations of protection and preservation appropriate to its function as a vessel for precious aromatic compounds, while the softer inner rectangle introduces organic warmth within the technological precision of the overall conception. Viewers might contemplate how this object transforms the quotidian act of home fragrance into an opportunity for sustained visual pleasure and material appreciation.

- Production Technology
- The bottle is handcraft double-layer glass. Four type of fragrance are original design.
- Design Challenge
- First of all, it is a big challenge to illustrate memorable scene by fragrance and resonate with lots people. It need both imaginary and intuition. During the realization, it is very difficult to make a smooth combination of the outside glass cover and the inside glass container. Because of manual welding or soldering, it is also difficult to make sure the perpendicularity of the inside glass container. There are many details and technical problems need to be solved such as bubbles in glass and parting line of the inner glass bottle.
- Project Duration
- The project started in April 2020 in Shanghai and finished in October 2021 in Shanghai
- Operation Flow
- The shape of bottle is inspired by a melting ice cube, which is a changing moment of the trinity in ice, water and water vapour. There are four type of fragrance: Muguet Shadow (Floral Note), Mandarin Sunshine (Citrus Aromatic), Bamboo Breeze (Fougere Aromatic) and Smoky Vetiver (Woody Note). These four type of fragrance illustrate four beautiful moment.
- Research
- After a complex market research about fragrance, I chose four kinds of note to develop and wrote down the brief of fragrance design and started to collaborate with perfumer. Trying to illustrate some different kinds of wonderful moment and by fragrance. Meanwhile, sketched the bottle shape which inspired by a melting ice cube.
- Inspiration
- The Trinity Collection inspired by ice, which represents the moment in eternity and the eternal moment. Moment and eternity are the constant topic of human beings. Life is too short, people always want to make the moment into eternity. In fact, every wonderful moment constitutes the eternity. Although touching moments are too short to stay, they could continually touch us in other way. Similarly, the trinity of ice, water and air could pictured the dynamic change of moment, memory and emotion.
