About 37XP Maya Private Yatch

Maya is a 37 meter superyacht designed for cruising to distant destinations. The vessel measures 37 meters in length and 8 meters in width. The exterior follows a standard production model, while the interior layout was created for the owners. Common areas can host at least 12 people, and each guest area offers a similar level of comfort. Lightweight composites and marine grade aluminium were used in the construction. Large windows bring in daylight and connect the indoor and outdoor spaces. Furniture, fabrics and artworks were selected as a single scheme.

The 37XP Maya Private Yatch by REZZAN BENARDETE represents a distinguished achievement within the contemporary tradition of explorer yacht design, a vessel type that emerged from the convergence of expedition capability and refined hospitality that has characterized maritime luxury in recent decades. The work demonstrates exceptional integration of structural engineering with aesthetic sensibility, evident in the carefully modulated relationship between the robust grey hull and the ethereal white superstructure that rises above it in harmoniously graduated tiers. One observes particular accomplishment in the fenestration strategy, where expansive glazed surfaces punctuate the vessel's flanks to maximize interior connection with the seascape while maintaining the clean horizontal emphasis that defines the design language. The material palette speaks to thoughtful consideration of durability and visual sophistication in equal measure: the metallic hull finish suggests resilience against marine conditions while projecting contemporary elegance, and the teak deck surfaces visible at the stern introduce organic warmth that humanizes what might otherwise read as purely technological form. The designer seems to engage deliberately with questions of scale and presence, creating a vessel substantial enough to suggest oceanic capability while maintaining proportions that read as graceful rather than imposing. The superstructure's architectural treatment evokes parallels with modernist building design, where stacked horizontal volumes create rhythm through repetition and variation. Viewers might contemplate how this vessel embodies evolving relationships between humanity and the maritime realm, representing not merely transportation but a self-contained environment for extended engagement with oceanic wilderness, a floating habitation where technological achievement enables rather than diminishes connection with natural vastness.

Production Technology
The design of Maya was driven by a commitment to elegance and functionality. We used advanced CAD software for precision in shaping and space optimization, ensuring a seamless integration of aesthetics and performance. High-quality materials, such as lightweight composites and marine-grade aluminum, were chosen for durability and efficiency. Production technologies included CNC machining for accuracy and advanced lamination techniques for enhanced strength. This approach not only maximizes the yacht's structural integrity but also elevates the overall user experience on board.
Design Challenge
Maya features the standard exterior design of the Numarine 37XP. However, the interior was ‘tailor-made’ to meet the owner’s expectations. Creating a completely new layout and unique interior design presented a significant challenge for us. Maya is not your everyday standard yacht; it has a timeless design. We aimed to blend design and functionality while ensuring it remains beautiful at the same time.

All common areas were designed to comfortably accommodate at least 12 people simultaneously. One of the biggest challenges was offering the same level of comfort to all guests.
Project Duration
The design and production of Maya began in November 2022. Maya is a 37XP model from Numarine. We modified the standard 37XP model according to the client's requests, with decisions regarding these modifications made before the construction process commenced. Production at the shipyard then began, during which all interior design decisions were implemented accordingly. Throughout the yacht's production, all furniture and fabrics were selected and completed. The production and interior design processes ran in parallel. When the yacht was ready for launch, all furniture arrangements, installations, and placements were finalized. Additionally, the selection of artwork and accessories was curated alongside all general choices. All of this took place in Istanbul, and the yacht was delivered to its owners in Bodrum in June 2024.
Operation Flow
Maya operates through an intuitive touchscreen interface that allows users to easily control navigation, lighting, and onboard systems. The yacht's design promotes smooth transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, enhancing user interaction. Key operational features include the automatic deployment of the swim platform and the opening of large windows, optimizing accessibility and views. Its superior performance is achieved through lightweight materials and advanced hydrodynamic design, which improve fuel efficiency and stability, ultimately enhancing the overall onboard experience.
Research
The design research for Maya employed a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methodologies to gather comprehensive insights from potential users and industry experts. The primary objective was to identify key user preferences regarding functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability in yacht design, reflecting the growing consumer demand for environmentally conscious luxury products.

We began with extensive literature reviews to inform the development of survey and interview questions, ensuring a solid foundation for our inquiry. Online surveys, designed using Google Forms, allowed us to efficiently reach a broad audience, while in-depth interviews conducted via Zoom provided valuable qualitative insights into participant experiences and expectations.

We engaged a diverse group of 100 participants, including yacht owners, design professionals, and maritime experts, to capture a wide range of perspectives. Data analysis revealed significant trends: participants expressed a strong preference for open layouts that promote social interaction, highlighted the importance of eco-friendly materials, and sought advanced technology features such as smart navigation systems.

These insights directly informed key design decisions for Maya, prioritizing features that enhance user experience while aligning with sustainable practices. For instance, we incorporated lightweight, recyclable materials to reduce environmental impact without compromising luxury. The design team also focused on maximizing natural light through large windows and open spaces, which not only improved aesthetics but also enhanced the overall ambiance of the yacht.

The implications of this research extend beyond the design of Maya, contributing to broader industry trends that prioritize sustainability and user-centric innovation. By addressing user needs, we aim to influence business strategies that emphasize eco-friendly practices and enhanced user experiences.

This research serves as a vital foundation for future yacht designs and sets a benchmark for industry standards. As more companies recognize the importance of aligning with consumer values, we anticipate a shift in the luxury market towards more sustainable and user-focused offerings.

In conclusion, the research conducted for Maya was crucial in creating a yacht that meets contemporary expectations, effectively bridging the gap between user desires and design execution. It resulted in a product that not only appeals to luxury consumers but also champions sustainability and innovation, demonstrating how thorough research can drive meaningful changes in the design process. This project exemplifies the potential of design research to shape business practices and societal values in the luxury market, ultimately contributing to a more responsible and user-centered approach to yacht design.
Inspiration
The inspiration for the boat is the concept of a floating home.
We aimed to ensure that the owners feel as comfortable as possible in both their private and shared spaces. Each individual can enjoy their own area, equipped with equal amenities. At the same time, the design allows them to create memorable moments by gathering in various places around the boat. Every hour of the day offers a different perfect spot on the yacht. In this way, the yacht becomes a truly magical place.
