About Centrestage 2024 Event Organiser Space
Centrestage 2024 is a four-day fashion event held in Hong Kong. Centrestage 2024 presented 250 brands from 17 countries and regions, together with fashion shows, seminars, networking activities and fashion tours. The design theme combined craftsmanship with technological advancement, expressed through bold red color, projection lighting, LED walls and an interactive floor. The main venue covered over 11000 square meters and was divided into five thematic zones. A separate evening show used a circular runway centered on a large incense mountain.
Event Organiser Space by its designer demonstrates sophisticated command of spatial narrative and experiential choreography within contemporary exhibition design practice, creating immersive brand environment that transforms functional presentation infrastructure into theatrical stage for cultural celebration. The architectural intervention employs integrated design strategies unifying color, light, typography, projection technology, and spatial composition into coherent experiential totality where every element reinforces overarching communicative intent, establishing this work within traditions of temporary exhibition architecture and branded environment design that emerged prominently in late twentieth and early twenty-first century event culture as brands increasingly recognized spatial experience as powerful communication medium. Compositionally, the work achieves dynamic balance between strong horizontal thrust established by crimson runway extending into depth and vertical counterweight provided by suspended translucent signage element descending from above, creating tension between forward movement and anchoring presence that animates the space with directional energy while maintaining compositional stability, the bilateral symmetry bracketing central axis through flanking LED screens provides orderly framework within which chromatic drama and perspectival recession can operate with intensified effect. The chromatic sophistication demonstrates nuanced understanding of color temperature relationships and complementary harmony, deploying saturated warm spectrum crimson and magenta against cool violet-blue ambient wash to create thermal contrast that amplifies spatial volume and architectural drama, while strategic white and black typographic elements provide neutral anchoring points and acid green accents inject unexpected chromatic spark preventing palette from becoming predictably binary. Technical execution reveals considerable facility across multiple domains including theatrical lighting design with precisely controlled pin-spots, wash systems, and accent illumination, projection technology integration creating seamless multimedia surfaces, material specification selecting appropriate finishes from glossy reflective carpet to luminous screens to matte industrial surfaces, and typographic implementation deploying dimensional letterforms at multiple scales creating hierarchical information architecture legible from distant approach to immediate encounter. The work invites consideration of how temporary branded environments construct aspirational atmospheres and cultural narratives, transforming utilitarian convention infrastructure into stages for celebration, identity expression, and community gathering, suggesting that spatial design operates as powerful cultural technology mediating between commercial imperatives, aesthetic experience, and social ritual. One might observe how the deliberate exposure rather than concealment of industrial ceiling infrastructure creates productive tension between raw functional architecture and highly polished presentation surfaces below, refusing seamless illusion while embracing hybrid aesthetic that honors both pragmatic construction and theatrical transformation. The threshold symbolism embedded in runway typology—neither fully exterior nor interior, neither static display nor pure circulation, but liminal passage where transformation occurs and attention concentrates—perhaps resonates with broader cultural fascinations with thresholds, stages, and spaces of becoming where identity becomes visible through performative presentation within carefully constructed frameworks that elevate everyday action into significant ritual.

- Production Technology
- The couture journey began with raw fabric, progressing through craftsmanship to modern technology. Projection technology and lighting created dynamic patterns on fabric, with LED walls and interactive floor enhancing the immersive experience. Decorative elements like mega cotton fabric, beads, plastic, and LED lights symbolized fashion's evolution. Graphics blended classical lace and embroidery with futuristic coding and pixel elements, featured with AI generated models with runway shows, illustrating the dynamic transformation of fashion craftsmanship across different eras.
- Design Challenge
- We dedicated 9 months from thorough research, planning, follow with study industry trend and innovative design. This approach aimed to create a "wow" factor, such as the 10m long interactive floor with dynamic hanging fabric above. Similarly the vibrant overhead neon LED light strings at the Urban zones required detailed drawing and coordination. It was also crucial to have an experienced support team on site, especially for ELITES at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, ensuring a smooth move-in and transforming the museum space into an immersive show venue within 16 hours.
- Project Duration
- CENTRESTAGE, a 4-day fashion event, was held from 4th to 7th September 2024 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The CENTRESTAGE ELITES show took place at the Hong Kong Palace Museum the night before the fair opened.
- Operation Flow
- The main event at HKCEC featured five thematic zones: Craftmanship, Urban, Contemporary, Athleisure, and Circular Fashion. The strategically designed layout and thoughtful venue decoration, including the Main Stage, Presentation, and Mini Parade areas enriched our trade hall & shows variety. For the ELITES show at the Palace Museum, inspired by "HOME" and "Circle" concept, we created a circular runway centered with a 5.8m diameter by 2.3m height, a mega incense mountain, blended with unique lighting effects to create a world-class haute couture event.
- Research
- The CENTRESTAGE event featured an AI-generated model video to promote exhibitors' collections, created immersive and interactive moments perfect for Instagram. A highlight was the use of over 150,000 incense sticks to form a mega-sized incense mountain, serving as a dynamic backdrop for the ELITES models. This innovative approach combined traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, offering an unique and captivating experience for all attendees.
- Inspiration
- The combination of "craftsmanship" and "technological advancement" was the concept of the event, which transformed traditional craft techniques and innovative technologies into stylish and unique fashion. The use of bold red color represented motivated action for the fashion industry. The vitality and strong emotions, including love, passion, and intensity, in the “craftformation” broke through traditional fashion arts with avant-garde trends and creativity.
