Infinito redefines outdoor and indoor lighting with its 360 degree rotatable head, eliminating the need for multiple fixtures by directing light precisely where needed. The waterproof design ensures reliability in all conditions, while its elegant infinity-inspired form merges aesthetics with functionality. Crafted with sustainable materials and innovative engineering, it creates eco-friendly and versatile lighting solutions, suitable for any environment requiring flexibility and style.

Infinito Light by Seyedsajad Jalalsadat emerges from contemporary design discourse as a refined meditation on the intersection of sculptural form and functional illumination, drawing upon minimalist traditions that prioritize essential gesture over ornamental elaboration. The work demonstrates remarkable compositional intelligence in its presentation of three finish variants—white, black, and chrome—arranged upon geometric volumes that themselves participate in the chromatic conversation, the deep navy pedestal introducing unexpected warmth against the otherwise neutral staging. Technical accomplishment reveals itself through the seamless integration of the articulated joint mechanism, where the spotlight head connects to its cylindrical stem at a precisely calculated angle that suggests both dynamic adjustability and formal inevitability, as though this configuration represents the optimal solution to a complex design problem. The matte finishes absorb and redistribute light with subtle sophistication, creating gentle tonal gradations that emphasize the purity of the cylindrical forms, while the chrome iteration offers a contrasting material experience through its reflective surface that captures environmental color and extends the lamp's visual presence into surrounding space. Thematically, the design appears to explore the philosophical territory between object and environment, between static form and dynamic function, inviting contemplation of how a single formal vocabulary can accommodate diverse material expressions while maintaining coherent identity. The articulated head, capable of rotation and directional adjustment, transforms what might otherwise be static sculptural presence into responsive tool, suggesting the designer's sensitivity to the lived relationship between user and luminaire. One might observe echoes of Bauhaus functionalism in the rejection of superfluous decoration, while the sculptural confidence suggests familiarity with contemporary art practice where industrial objects transcend utility to become aesthetic propositions. How might these elegant forms transform the character of spaces they illuminate, and what does their material diversity suggest about the personalization of functional design?

Design Interview about Infinito Light

We realized the strong need for a lighting fixture that could appear exactly where it was needed without spreading light excessively or causing glare. Since the product was intended for outdoor use, waterproofing and durability were also key factors.
We needed a light that could illuminate its surroundings in 360 degrees using soft, glare-free spot lighting, and that wouldn’t create new challenges for users during installation or usage.
So, we envisioned a light with a neck that could rotate freely and offer infinite lighting positions and that’s how we arrived at the concept of Infinito. The idea of infinity not only guided the functionality, but also inspired the form, which ultimately completed our design vision.

Our focus was to develop a neck with smooth, 360 degree infinite rotation completely waterproof, free of glare, and, despite its technical complexity, both minimal and user friendly in design.

This is such an exciting question it really stirs up a lot of emotion for me.
For upcoming awards, we’re working on lighting products that go beyond illumination itself.
Personally, I’ve chosen not to focus exclusively on lighting anymore. I'm also exploring or actively preparing to work on projects in other fields such as drones, robotics, architecture, jewelry design, and even automotive design either independently or in collaboration with other teammates.

The project took approximately 4 to 6 months from initial concept to final product, including ideation, design challenges, form development, and technical execution.

We had initially begun ideating for a commissioned project focused on courtyard lighting.
That early work led to a basic but successful product, which we called Project 7.
From there, our ambition grew we envisioned something far more advanced: a light capable of 360 degree illumination, waterproof, technically sophisticated, visually minimal, and complete.
That’s when we said, Why not? And Infinito was born.

Regarding this matter, I prefer to discuss it at the appropriate time.
Currently, we plan to produce this product ourselves, but we are open to considering and discussing other proposals as well.

My strong passion for tackling challenges, ideating ways to improve products, and creating innovative solutions was the main driver behind designing this particular work. Specifically, I wanted to solve the problem of providing flexible, 360 degree illumination without glare, combined with waterproof durability and minimalistic aesthetics. The challenge of balancing technical performance with user friendly design inspired me to develop this unique lighting solution.

Mr.Mohammad Mostafa Sharifianmehr has been with me throughout all stages of this design process, contributing significantly and positively. Together, we created this unique project.

Our target customers were those who own or manage outdoor spaces such as villas, hotels, residential complexes, and apartment buildings essentially anywhere that requires fully adaptive, flexible, and aesthetically pleasing lighting solutions.

Infinito stands out with its infinite 360 degree rotation, glare free lighting, and durable waterproof design. It combines minimalist aesthetics with advanced technology to deliver flexible, user friendly illumination ideal for any outdoor space.

The name Infinito is derived from the core philosophy and vision of the product itself offering infinite lighting possibilities through its 360 degree rotational design.

Our workflow involved using SolidWorks, KeyShot, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere.
At the very beginning of the process, we started with just paper and a pen, complemented by some work in Procreate.

Beyond all the tools and features I mentioned, what truly fascinates me about the Infinito light is how its complexity is seamlessly embedded within a simple appearance. For me, this simplicity brings a sense of calm to the user as if the light is saying, Let me handle the challenges; you just enjoy the experience.
Moreover, the fact that this philosophy is reflected in both the name and form of the Infinito light is simply outstanding.

This project was carried out by myself and Mr. Mohammad Mostafa Sharifianmehr. All stylistic, technical, and design skills, as well as our research, studies, and experiences, were brought together by us.

In this project, technology played a fundamental role in making the product both high performing and sustainable.
By using LED chips from some of the world’s most reputable manufacturers and employing 6063 grade aluminum, we were able to create a fully sustainable lighting solution.
The development of the rotating neck which had to transmit power while allowing smooth motion required its own specific technical approach.
Additionally, during the design process, coding and simulation tools helped us overcome challenges more efficiently and refine the product with greater precision.

Our research focused on material science and the physical behavior of lighting components.
We also studied how water interacts with the fixture, as well as how the light performs in different environmental conditions both of which were essential aspects of our development process.
Additionally, optimizing the manufacturing process to make production faster and more efficient was another major challenge that required extensive research and problem solving.

Our major challenges began with engineering a neck mechanism that would allow one cylinder to rotate infinitely while mounted on another.
Ensuring full waterproofing while maintaining that rotational freedom was a significant technical hurdle.
Another key challenge was achieving smooth rotation between two tightly connected cylinders with minimal spacing.
Finally, we had to ensure the product could be manufactured efficiently, without issues, and in a fully sustainable manner.

In early 2024, we became more familiar with the international design awards landscape, especially those we had known from before.
We decided to submit our project Modulo in which I was a team member under the leadership of Mr. Mohammad Mostafa Sharifianmehr and it was honored with a Bronze A'Design award.
After this success, we were encouraged to share other ideas that we personally believed in, and to bring them into global competitions as a way to introduce them to the world.

Throughout this journey, I’ve learned that every challenge and problem in design is actually a gift for us as designers.
They give us the opportunity not only to grow and evolve personally, but also to contribute to solving real-world issues.
In many cases, these challenges represent untapped opportunities things that few have noticed or dared to tackle.
And I believe this is where the true turning point of a designer’s success lies.

Design doesn’t just create, it shapes the story of the future, carving a new timeline for the world.

Grand Interview about Infinito Light

One of the most critical technical challenges in Infinito was enabling multidirectional 360-degree rotation while ensuring complete water resistance.Achieving seamless movement in all directions inherently introduces points of vulnerability especially in outdoor conditions where exposure to water, humidity, and temperature fluctuations is inevitable. To add to the complexity, the internal lighting components generate heat, which demanded a solution that could also provide thermal insulation without compromising flexibility or sealing performance.Through extensive research, material testing, and iterative prototyping, we developed a solution based on precision-engineered silicone microcomponents. These components offered exceptional resistance to both moisture and heat, while maintaining the flexibility required for dynamic mechanical integration. This multilayered design solution allowed us to preserve the minimal visual language of Infinito without sacrificing its technical performance or durability.

As we explored solutions, we were drawn to the concept of continuity a light that could flow endlessly, adapt effortlessly, and blend seamlessly into its environment. This led us to the philosophy of infinity.Instead of mimicking the infinity symbol, we captured its essence in the design: a single, fluid form where two cylindrical volumes are joined by a diagonal cut. This cut not only enables smooth, endless motion but also serves as a visual nod to infinity. The design process was a balancing act between engineering challenges and aesthetic clarity. We faced hurdles in minimizing the gap between the cylinders, which pushed us to innovate with diagonal cuts. These cuts solved the engineering puzzle, allowing fluid rotation with minimal spacing, while also reinforcing the infinity concept through the form.Throughout the design of Infinito, we tackled the challenge of keeping the cylinders as close as possible without compromising movement. The diagonal cuts were our breakthrough they enabled seamless rotation, reduced the gap, and brought the philosophy of infinity to life in both function and form. What you see today is a light that blends precise engineering with elegant design, creating a sense of infinite motion that interacts beautifully with any space.

Infinito is designed to be versatile, robust, and sustainable, and achieving this balance was a key focus for us. For the lighting component, we chose high efficiency Cree LED chips, known for their exceptional performance. These chips deliver bright, high-quality light with minimal energy consumption and an impressive lifespan, making the product both durable and energy efficient. For the materials, we prioritized sustainability by using minimal plastic and opting for 6063 aluminum alloy for the main structure. This alloy is lightweight, strong, and highly recyclable, with a production process that uses relatively low energy. Its flexibility also allowed us to create a sleek, functional design without compromising durability. The production process itself was engineered for efficiency. By streamlining manufacturing, we reduced energy use and waste, ensuring that Infinito is not only adaptable and long lasting but also environmentally responsible from start to finish.

Crafting Infinito to rotate freely through a full 360 degrees while staying resiliently waterproof was a formidable challenge that demanded creative ingenuity. Our breakthrough came by harnessing the remarkable physical and chemical properties of silicone for insulation. At the heart of Infinito’s “neck,” where two intricately connected cylinders pivot, we integrated robust silicone O-rings and seals. These meticulously designed components not only shield the light against water infiltration but also endure high temperatures with unwavering reliability. This elegant solution empowers Infinito to deliver seamless, fluid rotation while maintaining uncompromised durability and waterproof integrity, blending engineering brilliance with functional artistry.

Receiving this award has provided me with a strong motivation to further pursue a path of sustainable and versatile design, especially within the realm of outdoor lighting. However, this inspiration extends beyond lighting alone; it has encouraged me to adopt a broader and deeper perspective on sustainable and adaptable design across various design disciplines, placing greater value on sustainability capabilities. This recognition also increases our responsibility towards future design endeavors, compelling us to act with greater precision and excellence, and reinforcing our commitment to advancing innovative and sustainable design goals.

In many instances, we observed that users incur significant costs and material consumption merely to illuminate limited areas within architectural spaces. This situation poses several challenges: first, a lack of environmental harmony due to the sheer number of light sources; second, elevated expenses; and third, the complexity and time consuming nature of installation, procurement, and maintenance processes. As someone who has always sought to create products that independently solve multiple problems, these factors inspired me to design a lighting solution that addresses these challenges comprehensively. Our accumulated experience and observations throughout our work enabled us to better understand the challenges posed by varying weather conditions, diverse installation sites, and lighting angles. Considering these factors, we designed the product to be highly adaptable, weather resistant, and capable of adjustable orientation to perform effectively across diverse outdoor scenarios. Our experience has guided us toward creating a solution that is both multifunctional and sustainable.

As previously mentioned, to minimize the gap between the two cylinders in our design, we implemented two angled cuts on each cylinder. These cuts not only allowed us to better express the infinity form but also enabled a full 360-degree rotation with the minimal possible gap between the cylinders. Consequently, these angled cuts provided the means to achieve maximum rotational efficiency while accurately and elegantly representing the infinity shape.Attention to such details is extremely important to us details that might often be overlooked elsewhere but minimizing gaps and such precise considerations are evident throughout all of our designs.

Infinito Light removes the need for multiple fixtures by combining several functions into one product. This reduces material use and lowers costs, reflecting an efficient and sustainable design philosophy. Our approach balances versatility, durability, and sustainability to meet the evolving demands of indoor and outdoor lighting. We selected high performance Cree LED chips to ensure bright, high quality light with low energy consumption and long lifespan, supporting both sustainability and performance. Using 6063 aluminum alloy a lightweight, strong, and recyclable material allowed us to create a durable yet elegant fixture while minimizing plastic use to reduce environmental impact. Additionally, our optimized manufacturing process minimizes energy use and waste, making Infinito Light adaptable to various lighting needs while maintaining high standards of sustainability.

Our choice to integrate Cree LED chips into Infinito Light was based on their exceptional technical performance and long-standing reputation for reliability. Cree LEDs are known for their high luminous efficacy (lumens per watt), precise spectral modulation, and superior thermal stability all of which were critical to achieving both energy efficiency and consistent light quality in our design. Specifically, we selected models with a high CRI (Color Rendering Index), which is essential in architectural and outdoor applications where accurate color representation of materials and surroundings matters. These LEDs maintain color consistency over time, even under varying environmental conditions, which aligns perfectly with the long-term performance requirements of Infinito. Moreover, Cree’s advanced thermal management allows for stable operation without excessive heat buildup, reducing the need for additional cooling elements and extending the overall lifespan of the product. To further enhance light quality, we paired these LEDs with specialized lenses that offer precise beam control and uniform light distribution. The result is aglare free, visually comfortable experience that performs exceptionally across different environments, from ambient architectural settings to functional outdoor spaces.

One of the most unexpected and meaningful challenges during the six month development of Infinito Light was engineering the rotation mechanism for an outdoor fixture. Unlike indoor lighting, outdoor environments introduce unique and demanding variables such as dust, water, rain, and wind that significantly impact the functionality and longevity of movable components. At the same time, ensuring easy maintenance and durability for a flexible outdoor product adds another layer of complexity. This particular challenge turned out to be a truly inspiring part of the process, one that taught me a great deal and brought valuable insights I will carry into future projects. The most important lesson I learned is that every constraint or difficulty can be an opportunity for a designer because often, these are the areas that haven’t yet been deeply explored. For me, design is about not passing over problems, but using them as catalysts to create something new, thoughtful, and innovative.
