About Luxorbis Decorative Accent Lamp
The glowing perforated orbs radiate serenity while their intricate details add mystery. Light and shadow interact within the layers and create a tranquil ambiance inspired by nature's cyclical beauty. Dynamic perforations cast shifting patterns, inviting curiosity and exploration. The blend of warm light and meticulous design fosters a peaceful yet captivating atmosphere and draws attention to the calming, rhythmic interplay of illumination.
Luxorbis Decorative Accent Lamp by Alireza Salimi engages contemporary lighting design traditions that synthesize sculptural ambition with functional illumination, positioning this work within a lineage extending from mid-twentieth-century explorations of perforated metal lighting forms through recent parametric design approaches that celebrate mathematical elegance and systematic formal variation. The compositional achievement resides in the work's successful negotiation of multiple formal challenges simultaneously, establishing clear vertical directionality through the helical armature's sweeping continuous gesture while maintaining rotational interest as the three spherical forms occupy distinct positions within the spiral's three-dimensional trajectory, each sphere presenting its perforated surface pattern at a different orientation that rewards viewing from multiple vantage points and suggests the potential for kinetic rotation even within static presentation. The chromatic sophistication demonstrates considerable restraint and strategic focus, deploying a deliberately compressed palette dominated by sophisticated neutral tones—gunmetal gray metallic finishes, deep charcoal base elements, and pale silvered ambient atmosphere—punctuated by concentrated passages of warm amber-gold luminosity that emerge through the geometric perforation patterns, this selective color deployment ensuring visual hierarchy remains clear while the warm-cool dialogue between metallic exteriors and radiant interiors creates psychological warmth within an otherwise coolly disciplined formal vocabulary. Technical execution evidences precision manufacturing capabilities and material understanding, the perforated patterns maintaining consistent scale and clean edge definition across the curved spherical surfaces, suggesting laser-cutting or precision die-cutting technologies integrated with careful surface finishing that achieves uniform metallic appearance with subtle responsive reflectivity, while the spiral armature demonstrates assured three-dimensional curve execution that maintains visual fluidity without appearing either overly mechanical or structurally uncertain. The work seems to explore thematic territory surrounding light's dual nature as both phenomenon and metaphor, the perforated spherical forms functioning as vessels that contain and reveal illumination simultaneously, their patterned apertures mediating between interior luminous source and exterior environment in ways that invite contemplation of boundary, revelation, containment, and emanation as both formal strategies and conceptual propositions. The helical organizational principle carries rich associations across multiple domains, evoking organic growth patterns observable in botanical forms, molecular structures visualized through scientific modeling, celestial mechanics and orbital trajectories, DNA's double helix, and various cultural symbols of ascension, evolution, and spiritual progress, though the work maintains sufficient formal abstraction to resist reduction to any single symbolic reading while remaining open to multiple interpretive frameworks. The perforated spheres themselves suggest potential iconographic resonances with historical precedents including pierced metal lanterns from various cultural traditions, celestial globes and armillary spheres that model cosmic organization, ornamental spherical forms in architectural and decorative contexts, and more recent design explorations of light-emitting sculptural objects that transform functional lighting into aesthetic statement, the work thus participating in extensive visual conversations about how humans have historically shaped light through material intervention to serve both practical and symbolic purposes. Viewers encountering this work might consider how the interplay between geometric precision and organic curvature, between cool material discipline and warm luminous invitation, between rational mathematical organization and intuitive aesthetic appeal creates a productive tension that characterizes much successful contemporary design, how lighting objects function simultaneously as functional tools and environmental sculptural presences, and what qualities of attention and spatial awareness emerge when everyday utilitarian objects receive sufficient formal development to command contemplative engagement beyond their instrumental purpose.

- Production Technology
- Produced with precision laser cutting techniques, the patterned metal orbs achieve consistency and optimal light diffusion. The glass casing is molded to exacting standards, maintaining clarity while boosting the interplay between light and shadow within the structure. The spheres are precisely fitted within the glass container, ensuring they remain stable and secure even when it is shaken or moved.
- Design Challenge
- Maintaining vertical light flow while ensuring all elements stayed connected was a key challenge, leading to the decision to make the supporting wire delicately visible to enhance continuity. Another challenge was balancing sculptural beauty when off with a warm, inviting glow when on. To enhance luminous harmony, a glowing ring was added at the base. Finally, trimming the silicone base was necessary to allow wired charging without disrupting the design.
- Project Duration
- The project started in September 2024 in Tehran and finished in January 2025 in Tehran.
- Operation Flow
- Luxorbis operates with a concealed on/off button beneath the base to preserve its seamless design. The light glows from within the spherical forms, inviting interaction through the exploration of its shifting shadows and layered illumination. Users are encouraged to approach from various angles, experiencing the calm, ambient glow that gradually reveals hidden patterns within. The soft lighting is ideal for creating a peaceful atmosphere, while the mysterious aura deepens upon closer inspection.
- Research
- The study focused on suspending light sources within the orbs using delicately concealed metallic tubes to create the illusion of floating radiance and ensure precise positioning. Another key area of research was connecting the orbs in a way that enhances continuity, maintaining perfect alignment while preserving the seamless aesthetic of the design.
- Inspiration
- This design takes inspiration from the delicate balance between nature's organic forms and ancient craftmanship's geometric precision. Encased in a transparent cylindrical glass, three radiating orbs appear to float in suspension, whose stacked formation gives the piece a sense of vertical flow. Like sunlight piercing through a forest canopy and flowing down in ethereal beams, light descends through the suspended orbs and evokes mystery and adventure.
