About Home Space Shop
Home Space is a retail interior created for a home appliance brand in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The space covers a floor area of 60 square meters with a height of 2.5 meters. Smart appliances are joined by concealed interfaces, so controls appear only when they are needed. Ambient lighting responds to the time of day and to the presence of visitors. Appliances are placed to support easy reach and a clear flow of movement. Soft tones and hidden lighting form a calm atmosphere. The design keeps the technology quiet and simple to use.
Fundesign.tv's Home Space Shop exemplifies the evolution of retail space design toward environments that function simultaneously as product showrooms, educational spaces, and aspirational domestic vignettes, positioning itself within the contemporary trajectory of experiential retail that emerged prominently in the early twenty-first century as brands recognized the necessity of creating immersive physical environments capable of competing with digital commerce channels, the design demonstrates sophisticated understanding of spatial psychology and consumer behavior, employing a carefully calibrated balance between professional authority and domestic approachability that allows potential customers to envision products within their own living contexts while benefiting from expert curatorial presentation, the compositional achievement reveals itself in the elegant economy of means, the spatial organization providing clear circulation paths, intuitive product grouping, and visual breathing room that prevents overwhelming density while maintaining sufficient variety to sustain engagement, the chromatic sophistication appears in the restrained palette that allows individual appliances to assert their design character without competing for attention, the neutral ground providing a gallery-like backdrop that elevates each object to considered artifact status, the accent lighting in cool blue tones serves multiple functions, delineating zones, creating atmospheric interest, suggesting technological currency, and imbuing the space with a subtle theatrical quality that transforms routine appliances into objects of contemplation, the technical facility appears in details such as the seamless integration of lighting elements, the precise alignment of architectural features, the considered material selections balancing durability with aesthetic refinement, and the attention to proportion ensuring human-scale comfort within a space that could otherwise feel impersonal, thematically the environment explores the intersection of domestic life and technological advancement, celebrating the design intelligence embedded in everyday objects while suggesting how thoughtful selection and arrangement of household tools can elevate daily experience, the space invites consideration of how environments shape behavior and aspiration, how the presentation of functional objects influences their perceived value, and how retail environments can honor both product and purchaser through spatial generosity and curatorial respect, as viewers encounter this environment, they might contemplate the relationship between necessity and desire in domestic consumption, the role of design in transforming utilitarian objects into sources of pleasure and pride, and the ways physical retail spaces can offer experiences unavailable through digital channels by engaging multiple senses and allowing embodied exploration within carefully constructed atmospheres.

- Unique Properties
- This project reimagines the smart home as a space of emotional intelligence. Through seamless AI integration, minimalist design, and ergonomic logic, the space transforms daily routines into intuitive and poetic experiences. Concealed lighting, soft tones, and refined appliances compose a calm, futuristic atmosphere. The space becomes more than functional; it listens, adapts, and supports, quietly responding to human presence with silent intelligence.

- Production Technology
- 1. Seamless AI integration across appliances with intuitive UX design.
2. Ergonomic appliance placement to optimize user flow and interaction.
3. Ambient lighting mimics circadian rhythm and emotional state.
4. Concealed interfaces reduce visual fatigue and support calmness.
5. Smart zoning adjusts temperature, light, and presence sensing. - Design Challenge
- The biggest challenge was balancing visible design with invisible technology. Users desire simplicity, but AI systems require complex integration. We had to conceal sensors, interfaces, and wiring without compromising usability. The project was located in a busy high-speed rail station, where construction could only take place at night during non-operational hours. Tight schedules and precise coordination between trades added to the complexity.
- Project Duration
- The shop opened in Feb 2025 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
- Operation Flow
- This space works like a quiet assistant. Lights adjust automatically based on time and presence. Appliances turn on gently when you approach. There are no loud signals, only soft responses. The layout makes everything easy to reach, and controls appear only when needed. By hiding the tech and focusing on natural use, the space feels calm, responsive, and deeply human.
- Research
- This user-centered design research aimed to explore emotional comfort in AI-powered smart homes. Methods included user interviews, behavior mapping, and prototype testing. Tools used were digital mood boards, 3D modeling, and interaction simulations. Participants included 12 households aged 30 to 55. Results revealed a need for low-stimulus environments and invisible tech. The findings shaped a calm, intuitive living space with commercial and design impact.
- Inspiration
- The concept was born from a desire to humanize technology. While smart homes are often portrayed as gadget-heavy or cold, this design aims to create a sanctuary where technology disappears into the background, serving rather than showing. Inspiration comes from the flow of data, the softness of daily rituals, and the beauty of stillness.
