About Epsy Mobile App
Epsy is a mobile application designed for people living with epilepsy. Epsy is available as a native app for iOS, Android and Apple Watch. Users can log seizures, medication, side effects and life events, and the data is turned into clear insights to share with doctors. Educational articles support understanding of the condition. Accessibility was a priority, so custom motion and notification controls and seizure-safe patterns were developed. The design was based on extensive user research.
This sophisticated mobile application interface, which might be titled *Digital Health Companion: Interface Studies*, exemplifies contemporary approaches to health technology design where aesthetic refinement serves functional empowerment. Emerging from the intersection of user experience design philosophy and healthcare accessibility movements, the work demonstrates how thoughtful visual communication can transform complex health management tasks into approachable daily interactions. The designer employs a distinctive violet-purple identity system that establishes immediate brand recognition while avoiding clinical coldness often associated with medical applications, instead projecting warmth and approachability through carefully calibrated color relationships. The card-based information architecture reflects current interface design conventions that prioritize scannable content and clear action pathways, with each module presenting digestible information units that respect cognitive load limitations. Particularly noteworthy is the integration of multiple tracking dimensions within a unified visual system, where medication reminders, health event logging, and appointment management coexist through consistent design language rather than competing for attention. The iconographic vocabulary, utilizing simple line drawings within colored circular fields, achieves universal comprehension while maintaining visual interest through the interplay of geometric containment and organic subject matter. The timeline interface reveals sophisticated information density management, presenting detailed health records through expandable cards that balance comprehensive documentation with visual clarity. The designer's commitment to accessibility manifests through high-contrast text treatments, generous touch targets, and clear visual feedback mechanisms that suggest inclusive design principles. This work invites contemplation of how digital tools might foster personal health agency, transforming what could be anxiety-inducing health management into structured, supportive daily practice.

- Operation Flow
- Epsy transforms how people live with epilepsy. Beyond simple medication reminders, it lets users log seizures, side effects, and life events, turning scattered data into clear, actionable insights. With tailored educational resources and articles, Epsy empowers patients to understand their condition, advocate confidently in appointments, and make informed choices about their care. By helping people track, learn, and reflect, Epsy gives users the tools to reclaim control of their lives.
- Research
- Epsy's design research involved extensive user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and user feedback analysis to understand epilepsy's impact on users, such as a survey answered by over 1,100 users. Also including workshops and metric tracking, we generated key insights used to address accessibility challenges including cognitive impairments, resulting in features like custom motion controls and seizure-safe patterns, ensuring a safer, more intuitive, and ultimately better product.
- Inspiration
- We saw a critical gap in how people with epilepsy reach their optimal treatment. Too often, patients lacked clear, reliable data to share with their doctors, slowing adjustments and preventing them from getting the best care quickly. This version of Epsy was built to close that gap. Informed by hundreds of patient interviews, we focused on giving people an intuitive way to track seizures and medication, while prioritizing accessibility and usability for all.
