About Equitorus Equestrian sport center
Equitorus is required to meet all stringent sanitary & technological requirements for maintenance, training & prepation of horses competing at highest level. Complex has contain entire infrastructure necessary for living & recreation needs of horse owners during their spare time. Most remarkable element of complex is its large indoor arena made of glued wooden structures & featuring an L-shaped gallery with spectator seats & cafe. Object is perceived as a contrast in relation on natural environment. It seems as if someone had spread a colourful homespun mat on ground.

What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
The natural environment and the unique history of the neighboring villages predetermined the integrated approach in the formation of the concept of urban development. In the one project it was necessary to immediately solve three tasks: functional, ecological and cultural identity. Separate buildings of the complex, picturesquely scattered on the site by type of irregular layout of Russian manor, in fact, clearly fit into the rigid scheme of the functional zoning. The silhouettes of the pitched roofs of different heights and lengths look organically at the background of the forest close to its picturesque mass of tree crowns. Wooden trim of the facades emphasizes the connection of the new construction and the surrounding landscape.
What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
Architectural composition of the object is characterized by its particular function and natural environment. In the conditions dictated by strict and very specific regulatory requirements, the author of the concept lacked the possibility to freely manipulate the free volumes. Therefore, the color was selected as the primary means of expression. The main idea has been realized through the facade rhythmically organized geometric decor.
The object is perceived as a contrast object in relation to the natural environment, and structuring the monotonous landscape, it assigns him the role of the natural background. It seems as if someone had spread the colorful homespun mat on the ground. The huge glass planes work on the contrasts, emphasizing the arches end facades and connecting the interior with the exterior together.
What are your future plans for this award winning design?
The very participation and, even more so - an award in such a prestigious international competition for the company - it is a confirmation of professionalism and a sign of quality of our works, it’s a great achievement and a significant step forward for the whole team. That is a good opportunity for new projects for a world.

- Separate complex buildings, picturesquely scattered on site by type of Russian manor irregular layout, in fact, clearly fit into rigid scheme of functional zoning. Pitched roofs silhouettes of different heights & lengths look organically at background of forest close to its picturesque mass of tree crowns. Wooden facades trim emphasizes connection of new construction & surrounding landscape. Carefully traced details, smooth curves of large radii & detailed colors of buildings reproduce poetics of national architectural style without copying directly forms & patterns of last century.

- Production Technology
- Idea of giving an emotionally saturated image for a purely utilitarian object has been realized through the use of two-colored roofing & facade rhythmically organized geometric decor. Object is perceived as a contrast object in relation to natural environment. It seems as if someone had spread colorful homespun mat on ground. Huge glass planes work on contrasts,emphasizing arches end facades & connecting interior with exterior together. Facades of complex are lined with wooden planks of varying widths. These boards,creating a unique decoration on facades, are painted in different shades.

- Almost half of total area of Pushkin district is covered with forests. Exceptionally favorable combination of natural factors & absence of large industrial enterprises let to think about area as one of the most environmentally friendly in suburbs (museum-estate Muranovo - famous poets Baratynsky & Tiutchev; Museum-Reserve Abramtsevo, where in 70-90's of 19 century - Abramtsevo artistic circle-one of places of origin & formation of so-called "neo-Russian style"). Natural environment & unique history of neighboring villages predetermined integrated approach in formation of concept of urban development.
- Research
- Main goal-creation a unique complex that met all the stringent sanitary & technological requirements for post, maintenance & preparation of horses for participation in competitions of the highest level. Also, complex must contain the entire infrastructure necessary for living & recreation of horse owners in their spare time from training & competition. Another goal-customer set up before creating the complex was conducting hippotherapy sessions for social, psychological & physical rehabilitation of disabled people.
