Designer of the Day Interview with Jeff Ching-Wen Chang

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
I hold a bachelor degree of Industrial Design from NKNU. I learned how to think and practice as a designer in my university, and with the internship in design studio, I knowed much important skills in the professional field. Every time when I deal with a new case, I'll think if there is a better way to redefine or solve the problem with a brand new thinking involves.
How did you become a designer?
I love the question which has much way of solutions to answer, and this is why I choose to be a designer. Cause I find it pretty interesting when there is a same question for all the people, and there are always different solutions for it. The way of thinking differently appeals me a lot while I love to looking for the answer from diverse aspects of visions.
What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
I prefer to draw sketches with making the prototypes. By this method, I can develop and revise these two at the same time. And to find out what is the great point for the next step of development.
Which emotions do you feel when designing?
Trying is the most interesting part when I do the project. Only by making the prototype so that we can know how the idea on the paper or in the brain goes. During the time of testing, there will be lots of faults, might be depressing, but also can learn something new from them.
What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
I love reading and watching films, and they wide my eyes with different ways. I can get the vision and experience from them while learning how to think by not just as me.
What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
I have learned a lot of knowledge by the projects I did before, and asking the professionals is very helpful too. I would like to finish my master degree of design in France. I will be glad to working for the design studios and luxury brands in the future.
