The Berlin company aceteam created the first wooden e-bike, the task was to build it in an environmental friendly way. The search for a competent cooperation partner was successful with the Faculty of Wood Science and Technology of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development. The idea of Matthias Broda became reality, combining CNC technology and the knowledge of wood material, the wooden E-Bike was born.

What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
the main principle idea was to create an e-vehicle, with a mostly regulated CO2 balance.
What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
By the principle idea we had to find a material that grows in your area, and would be able to fulfil the requirements.
Who is the target customer for his design?
Potential owners are design affine city slickers with an environmental awareness – an ever­ expanding target group.
Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
with the cooperation with the Faculty of Wood Science and Technology of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE)
Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
to research, we had to create a torsion machine to learn which power will destroy the wood
What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
to get the best performance between thickness wood laminates, flexibility and weight
What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
I was sure that it will work, but I would`t expect that it so long and it was difficult to control the impatience to ride the bike
Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
yes there should be more ideas around to move 80kg(a person) from A to B without the necessary to move also 2000kg(a car)
